Military dad, wife, convicted of child abuse after newborn is found with bite marks in hospital

(Scroll down for video) A new father was seen proudly holding his newborn son, but a few days later he was arrested for biting his baby.

The father has been accused of abusing his 11-day-old son Mattix while he was in the intensive care unit of a hospital.

Matthew Wayne Strawn, 21, of Virginia was ordered to stay away from his wife and baby. But his wife, Allie Samantha Strawn, 20, did not follow the order and took the baby to see her husband, and she even left the baby alone in his care.

During one of the visits, the father allegedly broke his child’s ribs claiming that he mistakenly hit the baby to hard while helping the child burp.

Strawn, was found guilty in a Virginia court of biting and abusing his son.
His wife, Allie Strawn, was convicted for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The baby is currently in the custody of an aunt and uncle. Matthew Wayne Strawn faces a maximum of five years in prison. The mother faces 12 months in jail or a $2,500 fine.

The baby, who was being treated in the Intensive Care Unit in Neo Portsmouth Naval Medical Center in Virginia.

Strawn works at the health clinic at Norfolk Naval Shipyard where he holds an administrative position and does not perform medical tasks.

Strawn was arrested and charged with child abuse after nurses found visible bruises on the back and face of the newborn.
A restraining order has been filed against him so he cannot have contact with his wife or son.
