We’ve heard of snakes on planes, but a family in Lincolnshire, United Kingdom, got a surprise after a snake emerged from the drain.

The great serpent king of Mexico, a common species of snake found in the jungles of Mexico and Arizona in the U.S., surprised the young married couple, Linda and Geoff Peck at her home in Cleethorpes.

At first, they thought the creature was a great black slug.
“My husband Geoff and I walked past our back door, which is made of glass, and saw what looked like a slug in the drain,” Peck said.

“My husband went out to get a better look, but it already went down. About ten minutes later we looked again and saw the snake’s head coming out. He started to leave the drain and coming into the house. I was terrified, there was a big black snake coming out of a drain,” she said.

Experts from a local pet store came to help the couple, but said it is not the only snake living in the sewers of the city.
Mexican king snakes can grow up to 4 feet long and usually live on a diet of rodents, lizards and birds.
