A man was arrested and charged with animal cruelty related charges after he was caught trying to eat a dog while it was still alive, according to court proceedings in Texas.

Now, the man has pleaded guilty to the charges.

Waco prosecutors said that a local man pleaded guilty to one count of cruelty to animals.

On Monday, 22-year-old Michael Terron Daniel pleaded guilty to the strange and disturbing incident that took place in June 2012.

Daniel was arrested after he went crazy and chased a dog, who was choked, beaten and partially consumed. The dog later died at the scene.

When authorities arrived at the home, they found Daniel covered with blood on his face and clothes.

Daniel said he was on a synthetic drug known as K-2, at that time. The K-2 drug is known to create a quick, intense high, followed by extreme paranoia and acute psychosis.

Before Daniel brutally attacked the dog, he allegedly chased a neighbor while barking and growling like a dog.

The case is now before a jury to decide his sentence.
