(Scroll down for video) A probation officer was arrested after allowing a woman to hold his gun.
Jorge Martir, 38, a probation officer in Lakeland, Florida, is accused of having a personal relationship with a woman, whose probation he supervised, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Office of Polk County.
Police found that Martir and the convicted felon exchanged more than 700 text messages. They also found nude photo of Matir, which he sent to the woman via email.
Martir told authorities that the incident took place when he conducted a curfew check on the woman in her motel room in Lakeland.
He told authorities that when he arrived, the woman was upset and crying. He spoke with her, and he calmed her down before he left. He then returned to the motel room after midnight, bringing along his 9mm gun.
The probation officer allegedly confessed to taking his gun out of the holster, unloading it and handing it to the woman.
“A convicted felon is prohibited from handling or have possession of a firearm. Martir knows that criminals are legally forbidden to have contact with weapons,” deputies said.
Martir was booked into the Polk County jail and released after posting bond.
