A woman who lived as a man, was so unhappy with his sex change operation that he chose to be killed.

The transsexual from Belgium, was “disgusted ” with his sex change operation, and asked his doctor to kill him by euthanasia.

Nathan Verhelst, 44, who was born a woman named Nancy, decided to end his life with the help of a doctor, citing “unbearable psychological suffering.”

Euthanasia is legal in Belgium. Verhelst suffered years of emotional pain before and after the sex change operation, including a troubled childhood.

“I was the girl, who nobody wanted. While my brothers were loved and celebrated I got a storage room above the garage as a bedroom. ‘If only you had been a boy’, my mother repeatedly said. I was tolerated in the home, nothing more,” Verhelst said before he was killed.

Verhelst’s heartless mother agreed with his comments. “When I saw Nancy for the first time my dreams were shattered. She was so ugly. Her death does not bother me,” the mother said.

Verhelst began the sex change procedure from woman to man with hormone therapy in 2009, and had a mastectomy and penis reconstruction surgery in 2012, but “none of these operations worked as desired,” he said.

The physician-assisted suicide has been a controversial issue in Belgium, since it was legalized in 2003. The country saw 1,432 euthanasia deaths in 2012, up 25 percent from 2011, according to reports.

Most of those, who request assisted suicide in Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg suffer from cancer. Nervous system disorders, heart disease and dementia, are the next most prevalent conditions.

Dr. Distelmans said that Verhelst’s request was met on the legal grounds of “unbearable psychological suffering.”
Nathan underwent six months therapy before he made his final decision to be euthanized.
