(Scroll down for video) Police are offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the man, who wrapped his dog in fireworks and lit it on fire, according to police reports in California.
The dog was badly burned and left to die on a roadside in North Hollywood. However, the dog has made a full recovery after a series of surgeries and skin grafts, according to staff members in the Westlake Village Animal Hospital.
The 3-year-old American Staffordshire terrier was found abandoned on July 5. The dog, nicknamed Indy, suffered severe burns on the stomach, legs and feet.
“There were fireworks attached to it and he set them on fire,” Dr. Daniel Slaton of the Westlake Village Animal Hospital said.
“These are the patterns of burn marks across the back of the legs,” Slaton said. “As it walked, it was burning the back of the foot,” he said.
Slaton has treated many animals with injuries, but never to this extent.
The person responsible for the attack on Indy has never been caught despite the $50,000 reward.
Surveillance video showed the suspect driving a white Toyota van with dark stripes, a sunroof and a little extra cabin.
He also seemed to have a toolbox in the truck bed.
