A man was left homeless and penniless after he chose to stay with the love of his life, who happens to be a black woman.

The Scottish man paid a heavy price for marrying the black woman.

Green Thompson, 46, who now lives in Africa, was forced to choose between his white family, and his black wife and kids.

Thompson was given an ultimatum by his family to leave his black wife or be out of their lives.

Thompson opted to keep his wife and kids over his birth family, and was disowned by his angry mother.

Thompson had lived with his aunt in Queensdale, Harare, but his mother convinced the aunt to kick him out of the house.

Jobless and penniless, Thompson and his wife settled in Hopley, in Harare, where they rent a room for $10.

He now survives by buying and selling cheap items. Thompson admits that life has never been more difficult for him.

He and his family are hungry. They have been living in Hopley, the past 10 months.

His neighbors in Hopley, said that they were surprised when the white man came to live among them. They were even more surprised when they realized he was as poor as they were, and that he was also struggling to put food on the table.

Thompson said that for years he lived in the home of his aunt with his wife and five children. His mother was always against his marriage to a black woman of Indian origin.

“My mother influenced my aunt to evict me from the house only because she was not happy that I married a black woman. I love my wife, and I decided to leave rather than being without my wife,” Thompson said.

Thompson was a brand manager for a local company for 11 years, but lost his job when the company closed down, and new jobs were hard to come by.

As a result, his family is suffering. His wife said that their life is difficult. She said that the most painful thing is that they could not afford to send their children to school.
