(Scroll down for video) An innocent sleepover turned into a nightmare for a young girl.

Robert Chesters, 42 of Lebanon, Connecticut, allowed his daughter to have a sleepover with her friend.

During the night, Chesters drugged his daughter with Benadryl, so he can have sex his daughter’s 12-years-old friend.

A police investigation began when the victim’s friend saw text messages from Chesters to the victim, and they told school officials, who called police.

Police found several text messages on the 12-year-old’s cell phone in which Chesters expressed his love for her.

There were messages from Chesters stating how much he enjoyed the victim in bed and how he is looking forward to see her again.

Chesters is a widow and a single father of three. His wife of 20 years died a little over a year ago, police said.

Chesters was arrested and charged with first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

He was assigned Public Defender Peter Scillieri, and he pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was released after paying $500,000 bail.

Later, police were called to Chesters’ home, where he was found unconscious with a suicide note addressed to his three children and to the victim.

Chesters is currently on suicide watch at a local hospital.
