An elderly man was hospitalized after being the victim of a carjacking in the West Bank, according to police reports in Israel.

The 70-year-old Israeli man came under attack by two Palestinians while driving in the West Bank city of Qalqilya on Monday, police said.

“He was trying to take his car to a garage in town in order to get it fixed,” a police spokesperson said.

After he was beaten and robbed, the man was transported to Meir Hospital in the Israeli city of Kfar Saba, with minor injuries. There was no information on the whereabouts of his vehicle.

In a statement, the police issued a reminder that Israeli citizens are forbidden to enter Zone A territories in the West Bank, and it is also dangerous to enter Zone B.

Zone A refers to parts of the West Bank, where the Palestinian Authority has full civilian administration and security control. Qalqilya is a Zone A territory.

Qalqilya is located near the security fence, just opposite Kfar Saba.
