Crown Heights man, 36, killed in late night shootout

A Crown Heights man is dead and a Far Rockaway man was left injured after a late night shootout in front of their homes, according to police reports in New York.

Brooklyn Police said that a total two people were killed and seven others were injured in a wave of violence across the city on Saturday.

The first shooting occurred in Queens, when a man was shot on B. 54th Street in Far Rockaway, around 12:00 a.m.

The injured man was transported by ambulance to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition, police said.

The next shooting victim did not survive. Shamon Cook, 36, was shot in the upper body at the Kingsborough Houses in Crown Heights, at 2:05 a.m.

He was transported by ambulance to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said that they are searching for three men, who are believed to be behind the shooting.
