(Scroll down for video) A woman was told that her mother abandoned her when she was a baby.
However, that was far from the truth. She was abducted by her father, but her mother never stopped looking for her.
The woman, Angela Palmer, who is now 44-years-old, was born in Germany, but went to the United States, at age 18. She now lives in California.
One day, Palmer received a friends request on Facebook from a woman named Helga Simecki of Croatia. She ignored the request as she did not know who the woman was.
Simecki did not give up, she sent Palmer a message that she could not ignore.
“She said she was my mother. It surprised me because I knew my mother had abandoned me when I was a baby,” Palmer said.
Palmer was suspicious at first, but soon became convinced when Simecki sent her a birth certificate and a photo of her daughter as a child.
“She also answered questions that only a mother would know,” Palmer said.
That’s when the two began a conversation, and Palmer learned the truth about her upbringing.
Her parents had been divorced. One day, when her father took her to a doctor’s appointment, he disappeared and never returned.
Simecki tried to get her daughter back, but had a hard time finding her former husband, since he moved very often.
According to Palmer, she and her father moved 12 times in 18 years.
“He told me that he was a traveling salesman, so he would have to move from one area to another to get new customers,” Palmer said.
In reality, he was on the run as the German government was looking for him.
in the video below, you can see the emotional reunion via skype between Palmer and her mother.
“Until Friday, I had no family, now I have a mother, stepfather and two half brothers,” a beaming Palmer said.
