Orthodox Jewish New York school principal gets 55 years jail for raping boys

Emanuel Yegutkin
By: Moses Gold

A principal of a Jewish school was arrested, charged and convicted after raping several boys in Brooklyn, New York, according to court proceedings in New York.

Now, the 33-year-old principal of a Jewish religious school in Brooklyn, was sentenced to 55 years in prison for sexually abusing three boys over a decade, the Brooklyn District Attorney announced Thursday.

Emanuel Yegutkin, was convicted in December of sexually abusing three boys between the ages of seven and 15-years-old, while he was the principal of a private school catering to Russian-Jewish immigrants in Bath Beach.

Although the trial coincided with Nechemya Weberman, who was sentenced in January to 103 years in prison for abuse of a young girl, Yegutkin’s trial received little attention last year.

Like Weberman, Yegutkin cultivated a close relationship with the families of his victims and committed the child abuse in secret for years. The abuse itself was also similar, two of the victims were forced to perform oral sex and another was forced to view pornography.

Convicted New York rapist admits to raping boys and girls in Jerusalem

Israeli police officers
By: Moses Gold

A convicted New York rapist admitted today to raping more than 10 children in Jerusalem, according to a statement by police in Jerusalem, Israel.

Israeli Police in Jerusalem arrested **, a 48-year-old ultra-Orthodox Jewish man yesterday for allegedly sexually assaulting 11 boys and girls aged between 10 and 14-years-old.

The divorced father of three reportedly admitted his crimes to the police and is cooperating with the investigation. The victims are all the children of his friends.

Police say their investigation showed that several ultra-Orthodox Jewish activists knew about the crimes but did not inform the police.

Instead, the man was privately treated with medication that was supposed to reduce his sexual impulses.
Both the doctor who administered the medication and the community leader who financed the treatment will be questioned by police.

Police learned of the sexual abuse a few months ago, after a mother of an 11-year-old Tel Aviv girl filed a complaint. The girl was allegedly sexually abused or witnessed sexual abuse by the man on her visit to Jerusalem.
The man was arrested based on the complaint and admitted to having abused many children.

Police believe there are many cases beyond the 11 children he admitted to, because of two incidents of child sexual abuse he was convicted in New York in 2010. He was arrested in March of that year and was deported to Israel in October. His original sentence was 11 months in a prison in the city of New York. The Israeli police investigation is being helped by INTERPOL.

U.S. basketball team under fire for Nazi salute and Hitler name

Teens playing basketball
By: authorname

A U.S. basketball team is under fire after they were seen performing Nazi salutes and a teammate was named Hitler, according to press reports in Maine.

A photograph of members of the basketball team at Greely High School emerged last week in social media that has led to disciplinary action against some players and raised concern among administrators about anti-Semitic symbolism.

In the undated picture that was released on facebook, two players face each other, smiling, and making the Nazi salute with one arm in the air, while a third player sits cross-legged between them, holding the hands in peace signs. All three are dressed in their team uniforms.

Team members had referred to a player as "Hitler", according to a letter sent to the parents of the players.
Administrators also said in the letter that "inappropriate and biased language was used by the team members."

"Certainly we are taking this very seriously," Greely High School Principal Dan McKeone, said. "We talked to several members of the team," he added.

McKeone said that administrators investigated the origins of the photograph and while it made its way on facebook, he said he believes it was taken by the parents.

Superintendent Robert Hasson said he was notified of the incident but was not part of the disciplinary response.
"Those are unacceptable behaviors for Greely High School, and for student athletes," Hasson said.

The letter to the parents of the players, dated Monday and signed by the Director of Sports, McKeone and David Shapiro, condemned the actions and urged parents to be proactive about addressing the issue.

Goat runs wild at Brooklyn New York hospital parking lot

Goat
By: authorname

(Scroll down for video) A goat ran around wild at a hospital parking lot frightening many hospital workers and visitors, according to video uploaded to the internet.

A security guard helped police tie a goat running wild in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, overnight.

The goat was first seen running on Fulton Avenue, just before 1:00 am. Passersby who called police, said that the goat appeared disoriented and ran through the streets, knocking on the doors of the buildings.

The goat was finally cornered in a parking lot on Herkimer Street, across from Interfaith Medical Center.
A hospital security guard called Seydou, originally from West Africa, took a rope and tried to bind the goat.
The goat was behind several cars, hiding from the police and thwarting the attempts of the guard.

The security guard finally took the goat by the horns and held it while police tied the animal.
Authorities put the goat in the backseat of their patrol car and taken to Animal Care and Control.
The goat had a label on it, indicating that it apparently escaped from a nearby slaughterhouse.

Besides making a fun night shift, the lucky break of the goat has paid off. Instead of returning to the slaughterhouse, it will be sent to a farm sanctuary in upstate New York.

Mickey Mouse toys
By: Sarah Weiss

5 New York business owners were arrested and charged after smuggling dangerous toys from China to New York.

The scheme involved constantly changing the corporate name after authorities caught the illegal shipments, according to court proceedings in New York.

Dora the Explorer, Spongebob, Betty Boop, Mickey Mouse, Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers and some Cinderella items. were all found trying to enter illegally into the country, as part of an elaborate smuggling operation of toys made in China, that officials said operated for more than eight years. Illegal shipments were seized dozens of times.

On Wednesday, the five men who authorities say were behind the operation were arrested and charged with the importation and sale of counterfeit and dangerous toys.

"For years, those accused tried to make money by importing and selling counterfeit and dangerous toys, without regard for the law or the health of our children," Loretta E. Lynch, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, said.

In an indictment unsealed in a court in Brooklyn, Chenglan Hu, 51, Hua Zhang Fei, 52, and Zhang Xiu Lan, 60, all Chinese citizens and residents of Queens, and Guan Jun Zhang, 29, Jun Wu Zhang, 28, both naturalized citizens and residents of Queens, were charged with importing products that violate the law of consumer product safety and copyright laws, as well as smuggling and money laundering.

All defendants pleaded not guilty and were released on bail of $100,000.

150-year-old baseball card sells for $92,000 after being bought for less than $100

1865 baseball card
By: Sarah Weiss

(Scroll down for video) A man bought a baseball card for less than $100 but sold it this week at auction for $92,000.00, according to press reports in Maine.

A rare 148-year-old baseball card discovered in a garage sale in rural Maine, has been auctioned for $92,000.
Saco River Auction Co. in Biddeford, Maine, held an auction Wednesday night that included a card that represents the Brooklyn Atlantics amateur baseball club.

Troy Thibodeau, director and auctioneer of Saco River Auction, said that the card attracted a lot of interest. Bidding started at $10,000 and quickly rose to the last $92,000, which includes a premium of 18 percent.

The name of the buyer, who was at the auction house, was not released. However the man was later identified as Jason LeBlanc. He told news reporters that he bought the card for his sick 4-year-old son.

The card is not the same as a baseball card today, which became common in the 1880s. Rather, it is an original 1865 photograph mounted on a card, showing nine players and a manager.

The Library of Congress, said last month that it was aware of only two copies of the photo. The other is in the collection of the institution.

In the book "Baseball Americana", the Library of Congress calls the card, the first time a baseball card was handed out to supporters and opposing teams in a gesture of courage of Brooklyn residents, who were dominant and won its league championship in 1861, 1864 and 1865.

A Maine man who does not want to be identified publicly found the card inside an old photo album he bought while collecting antiques in the small town of Baileyville, at the Canadian border. The man bought the album of photos, old Coke bottles and a pair of oak chairs together in a single purchase for less than $100.

Mayor Bloomberg defends anti-Israel event at Brooklyn College

Mayor Bloomberg
By: Sarah Weiss

The Jewish mayor of New York City is defending the anti-Israel event to be held at Brooklyn College, according to a public statement from the mayor.

“Crazy, controversial and even disgusting ideas deserve a platform in universities and politicians should not try to prevent it,” Mayor Bloomberg said.

In his first comments on the controversy over an anti-Israel forum sponsored by Brooklyn College, the mayor criticized the elected officials who have threatened to cut public funding for the university if it proceeds with the event.

"I could not disagree more violently with BDS, as they call it, Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions. As you know I am a strong supporter of Israel, as big as one I think you can find in the city," Bloomberg said.

But he added: "If you want to go to a university where the government decides what kind of topics are suitable for discussion, I suggest you apply to a school in North Korea."

The mayor said the university has the right to sponsor forums on any topic, including business development services, which advocates financially penalizing Israel for its treatment of Palestinians.

"The last thing we need is for the members of the City Council or the state legislature to handle the type of programs that run our public universities and funding decisions based on the political views of teachers," Bloomberg said.

"I cannot think of anything that would be more destructive to the university and its students," he added. But apparently, Bloomberg doesn't think that dictating the soda size is like North Korea.

(Scroll down for video) The Jewish supermodel, Bar Refaeli, Super Bowl advertisement became an instant hit worldwide and was viewed millions of times on the internet.

Now it was announced that the award of this year's most sexist Super Bowl advertisement went to Bar Refaeli and GoDaddy.com, in which it showed the supermodel kiss a computer programmer with the slogan of sexy meets smart.

Thousands of viewers used the Twitter hashtag # NotBuyingIt Sunday night to flag and rate the commercial disgusting, sexist and offensive during the Super Bowl game.

The hashtag generated over 10,000 tweets in real time, and 7,500 of them were for the GoDaddy.com advertisement, which has been accused of objectifying women and stereotyping programmers.

According to Miss Representation, a social activism nonprofit leading the Twitter campaign # NotBuyingIt for the second consecutive year, # NotBuyingIt reached more than eight million people.

In a statement Monday, GoDaddy.com said it embraced the conversation, despite the fact that some viewers considered the content inappropriate.

"We will not apologize for ‘The Kiss’," Blake Irving, the GoDaddy.com CEO, said.
“This is provoking conversations. It was approved by the Standards and Practices of the network and used humor to illustrate the point about how powerful a combination of "sexy" and "smart" are. Personally, I think it's very funny,” he added.

Woman doing yoga class suddenly finds worker masturbating next to her

Woman doing yoga
By: Shifra Unger

A woman was left trembling after suddenly seeing a yoga studio worker sitting next to her and masturbating, according to a lawsuit filed in New York court.

She was finishing his class, but he was just beginning his.
A Manhattan woman in the yoga studio, allegedly was in meditative bliss when she was abruptly awakened by a maintenance worker masturbating beside her mat, according to the lawsuit.

Keiko Herskovitz, a regular at Equinox's Pure Yoga, located on West 77th Street, was in a so called corpse pose, laying with her eyes closed last week, when she heard someone walking into the room.

At first, Herskovitz, 55, ignored the noise until she felt there was a person next to her. As she opened her eyes, she found a Pure Yoga employee, about six feet away, masturbating, the lawsuit alleges.

Herskovitz faced the maintenance worker and asked, “What are you doing?" She said in court papers. The man, described as a 19-year-old quickly covered himself with a blanket and ran out of the room, the documents said.

Herskovitz immediately told a manager about the incident. The supervisor allegedly denied the charge and said the man was a good employee, court papers state.

The woman who had been attending the studio every week for three years, reported the incident to the police. She later received an email from the studio saying that they took her allegations seriously but did not take any action against the employee.

Her lawyer, Eric Creizman, is set to hire a private investigator to determine whether the maintenance worker has engaged in such incidents in the past.
Herskovitz is suing Related Companies, which owns Equinox, for unspecified damages.

Man builds cool looking crocodile motorbike that seats 10 people

Crocodile motorbike
By: Sarah Weiss

(Scroll down for video) A man built a custom motorbike that seats 10 people, allowing him to drive his family and friends around.

A motorcycle enthusiast and mechanic, Pradeep Kumar Mehta, of Amritsar, India, has designed a motorbike that looks like a crocodile on wheels.

At first he thought of the idea to impress onlookers, friends and clients with his ability and creativity. He set about designing a bike that not only looks like a crocodile, but also accommodates ten people.

According to Mehta, it took him about eight months to complete the bike. He bought the bike a year and a half ago for 3,000 rupees which is $56.35. The customization of the bike costs him 45,000 rupees which is $845.

The bike is over a foot long. The bike is 13 and half feet wide and weighs about 460 pounds. It has a crocodile shape "mouth" which opens and closes while in operation, and houses twin headlights. Mehta said he was motivated by the desire to have a bike that would be enough to transport his family and friends on their outings together.

In a country where the vehicle's fuel efficiency is the first thing one looks at when looking for a vehicle, Mehta feels that his motorcycle is a good solution. "I think a motorcycle should be enough to get us where we want to go without a problem,” Mehta said.

The bike gives 35 miles per gallon and runs at a maximum speed of approximately 30 miles per hour. It can accommodate 10 people.

Police lieutenant punished after sending sex videos of herself to other police officer

Diana Lopez
By: David Ross

(Scroll down for video) A high ranking police officer was punished after she sent sex videos of herself to another police officer, according to a statement made by the Tucson, Arizona, police department.

The police lieutenant who sent porn videos and pictures of herself in uniform to her lower ranking police officer lover has been demoted.

Diana Lopez, who was in a relationship with the man at the time, used her personal cell phone to send sexually explicit content.
The public information officer for the Tucson Police Department was demoted from lieutenant to sergeant after an investigation.
The probe was triggered initially by anonymous letters sent to her department in August 2012.

Police said her actions had violated several department regulations, code of ethics and professional standards.
Deputy Chief Kathleen Robinson wrote: "Lopez used extremely poor judgment in sending these images which undermined her credibility as lieutenant.

"Her actions have adversely affected not only her reputation, but the reputation and mission of the Tucson Police Department," she added.
Police said that Lopez's boyfriend, who was not identified, showed the content to other police officers, between May and August 2011.

The investigation revealed that 13 people saw the pictures, but the racy clips were never discovered. Lopez also admitted to kissing a person in uniform.
Lopez, who now works in the operations division, is believed to be considering a civil suit against the city.

Her attorney, Michael Piccarreta, said the case presented is a violation of privacy.

Boxing match between man versus kangaroo outrages many

Boxing match between man and kangaroo

(Scroll down for video) Animal rights activists were outraged after seeing a boxing match between a human and a kangaroo.

They have asked people to sign a petition to cancel the upcoming fight between man and kangaroo.

A boxing match which was scheduled between a kangaroo and a man in Oxford, Mississippi, has been canceled due to complaints from animal rights activists.

Oxford Police Chief Joey East, said that the kangaroo, also known as Rocky, will not put on boxing gloves when it visits the “Star Family Circus” this month.

He said: "We have spoken to the owners and managers of the circus and there will be no kangaroo boxing of any kind."

Animal rights advocates were outraged after seeing the video below, of the kangaroo being forced to fight a man.

The activists, started an online petition to stop the fight on the website Change.org. The petition referred to images of Rocky the kangaroo, who has been seen in the video below, wearing boxing gloves and shorts, as it was on a leash and was forced to fight a clown in a circus.

"The kangaroo, is repeatedly beaten in the face by a human being," the petition said. "This is blatant animal cruelty. Cruelty is not entertainment and we will not be allowed in our community. Boxing matches are very stressful for kangaroos as they must be harassed and intimidated to defend themselves in boxing matches," the petition said.

According to the petition, two other kangaroos that were forced to entertain the circus crowds by boxing, died of complications during the tour.

All British dogs must now have microchips inside their neck

Dog being scanned
By: David Ross

(Scroll down for video) The government is now forcing pet owners to insert microchips inside their pets, according to press reports in the United Kingdom.
Dog owners who refuse to insert a microchip will receive a hefty fine, the British government announced Wednesday.

All dogs in England will have to be equipped with microchips by 2016, according to the authorities, which means that dogs nationwide will be registered like cars with a small chip in the back of the neck.

The Department of Environment in Britain, said that the chips would help find pet owners after a pet becomes lost or stolen, promote animal welfare and take the pressure off animal shelters.

"It is shameful that a nation of dog lovers, thousands of dogs are roaming the streets or trapped in shelters because the owner cannot be traced," Environment Secretary Owen Paterson said in a statement. "The microchip is a simple solution that provides peace of mind to pet owners," he added.

Many British pet owners have veterinary chips inserted under the skin of dogs, cats and rabbits, in an attempt to keep track of their animals. The Environment Department said that 60 percent of the 8 million dogs in Britain already have microchips that can be scanned and matched to the details of their owners.

But authorities said that what was once an optional extra will be required within three years. The owners who refuse to comply will face fines of up to $800.

Lucy Lawless convicted of trespassing

Lucy Lawless
By: David Ross

A popular movie action figure was sentenced after being convicted of trespassing onto the property of a large U.S. oil company, according to court proceedings in New Zealand.

"Xena: The Warrior Princess" actor Lucy Lawless said she has won a great victory after a New Zealand judge gave her a modest sentence, but refused to order the costs requested by Shell Oil for her role in a protest on board of an oil drillship.

Lawless and seven other Greenpeace activists were each ordered Thursday to pay $547 to the company and complete 120 hours of community service after pleading guilty on charges of trespassing.

Last February, Lawless and six other activists climbed an oil rig to protest oil exploration in the Arctic. Another protester helped from the ground. Lawless spent four days on the 174-foot tower, camping and blogging about her experience. The action briefly delayed the boat trip.

Shell Todd Oil Services, which had chartered the ship, demanded around $545,000 in reparations from the protesters.
Lawyers for the activists argued that the amount was excessive. In his ruling, Judge Allan Roberts said that the company could pursue its claim through the civil court system.

Lawless is best known for her starring role in "Xena" and more recently for her role in the cable television series "Spartacus".
"I consider it a great victory that the court has disallowed the claim for compensation by Shell, which I think is absolutely ridiculous," Lawless said.

She said she was happy to clean toilets, pick up trash or do anything else that is required for the community service and has no regrets about participating in the protest, which she said has helped to highlight concerns about the oil exploration in the Arctic.

Unions angry after U.S. Postal Service ends Saturday delivery

By: Debbie Gross

(Scroll down for video) Work unions are angry after the U.S. Postal Service announced that it will stop delivering mail on Saturday, which will result in thousands of job losses, according to press reports.

The plan of the U.S. Postal Service to end Saturday delivery angered unions because of job losses and faces an uncertain future in Congress.

But the decision was needed, the Postal Service said, in order to save $2 billion a year, while most people couldn’t care less about Saturday delivery.

"Actually, no one sends letters anymore," David Braunschweig, 63, said while he was in the Arlington Heights post office in Illinois to send a gift. "Putting away mail on Saturday and Sunday, will not kill anyone," he said.

Hammered by the competition that includes the Internet, the Postal Service lost about $16 billion last year and said that the removal of first class mail on Saturday is essential to their recovery plan.

"It's an important part of our return to profitability and financial stability," Postmaster General and CEO Patrick Donahoe said on Wednesday at a press conference in Washington. "Our financial situation is urgent," he added.

Ahmadinejad after the attack in Egypt
By: Ryan Lee Hall

Iran’s president Ahmadinejad, was not received well in Egypt, as he would have liked, according to press reports in Egypt.

Three Egyptians and one Syrian were arrested after trying to attack the Iranian President Ahmadinejad, in front of the Al-Hussein mosque in Cairo. The Iranian leader is in the Egyptian capital on a visit.

A video recorded by a Turkish camera person showed a young man screaming at Ahmadinejad and trying to hit the President's head with a shoe, instead hitting one of his bodyguards.

Security sources told news reporters that the three Egyptians were all members of al-Gama'a al-Islamiya, a hardline Islamist group.
The four men were arrested on suspicion of trying to attack the President, the security sources said. The men were held overnight, but released on bail of 500 Egyptian pounds or $75 each on Wednesday.

The Syrian attacker was heard singing anti-Iranian slogans to support the government of Syria.
The Iranian leader’s three-day visit has been described as the latest sign of improved relations between Tehran and Cairo after the uprising of 2011 that toppled longtime ruler in Egypt, President Hosni Mubarak and brought an Islamist government in power.

After arrival, the Iranian president and his Egyptian counterpart held a 20-minute talk focusing on the civil war in Syria.
It is the first visit by an Iranian leader to Egypt since 1979.

The Vkontakte photo quickly went viral on twitter as well and the managers of Aeroflot ultimately fired Kozlenko for her rude attitude. However, the flight attendant denied the incident, saying: "The hand is not mine, the airplane is not my company!"

According to the Russian news agency, the image was first published in October 2011. It was recently released after a Russian blogger posted it on Twitter. The woman claimed it ended up on her account after she was tagged to the photo.
