(Scroll down for video) A man is facing arrest and criminal charges after he was caught by a speed camera going 68 miles per hour on his skateboard, according to video uploaded to the internet.

The professional skateboarder is potentially facing jail after uploading a video that aims to show him skating at an astounding 68 miles per hour through traffic.

Skater Decio Lourenco, faces charges after Cape Town city officials said that his high speed skating actually triggered a speed camera. The speed limit in the city Lourenco was skating through is 37 miles per hour.

"All that was needed was for one of those drivers to panic and swerve into oncoming traffic and cause a large number of deaths, as it had happened in the past, the security spokesperson told a New York based newspaper. "Unless action is taken against him, another aspiring skater will copy his stunt and one of events will come to a tragic end," the spokesperson added.

It is difficult to argue that the stunt was dangerous and reckless, especially with oncoming traffic in the opposite lane, but Lourenco is a professional skater, accelerating down many roads in the past.

In addition, his videos on YouTube includes notices discouraging others from trying to recreate his feat, which has been viewed more than 600,000 since it was published on YouTube last month.

Student demands $1.3 million from university after receiving C grade

Megan Thode

By: Moses Gold
A woman is suing her university after she received a C grade which caused her not to be able to obtain a degree she was looking for, according to court proceedings in Pennsylvania.

The graduate of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, has sued the school for $1.3 million because she's not happy with the C grade she received in 2009.

Megan Thode, 27, said that the grade ruined her dream of becoming a licensed professional counselor, a newspaper based in Allentown reported. Her civil suit alleges breach of contract and sex discrimination. She argues that the grade was part of a broader attempt to force her to abandon the graduate degree she was pursuing.

Court proceedings began this week in Northampton County and could last the rest of this week.
Thode was in the final year of a master's degree in counseling and human services at Lehigh University Education. “I needed a B in the course in question, a kind of field work, to qualify for another round of field work required for the degree,” she said.

Thode’s lawyer, Richard J. Orloski, maintains that she deserved a higher grade. However, her teacher, Amanda Carr, gave her a big fat zero for class participation. That took her down to a failing grade.

Orloski has also claimed that Carr plotted against Thode because she and three other students were critical when they had to look for internships halfway through an additional semester.

The lawsuit also accuses the teacher of the course of treating Thode badly because of her support for gay and lesbian causes, a claim flatly disputed by everyone in the school.

Now, the Brooklyn dentist whose career was ruined after former Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, made him a poster boy for Medicaid fraud won a $7.7 million settlement Tuesday against two former Spitzer investigators.

That was $1.6 million more than Dr. Leonard Morse estimated.
"It took a little over 2,500 days, but the truth came out," Morse, a father six and 65-years-old, said. "Now I feel totally vindicated," he added.

Morse, accused the former investigators John Fusto and Jose Castillo in his lawsuit for fabricating evidence against him.
Morse had a thriving dental practice in Park Slope, Brooklyn with 30,000 patients before Spitzer focused on him because 95 percent of his patients were eligible for Medicaid.

Morse, filed a $75 million lawsuit in Brooklyn Federal Court, accusing of being the victim of a witch hunt by Spitzer in 2006, when the prosecutor was running for governor.

After Spitzer’s political opponents labeled him soft on Medicaid fraud, he focused on Morse, who was a major biller in the state, the lawsuit said.

Morse was accused of stealing more than $1 million for dentures he never used. His arrest was announced in a press release translated into several languages, including Russian and Korean.

But the criminal case against Morse collapsed during a bench trial in Brooklyn Supreme Court after Fusto was forced to acknowledge that the billing records showed an error of just $3,000.
Morse was acquitted of all charges. However, he lost his practice.

Teresa Soler
By: Debbie Gross

A Brooklyn, New York, assistant district attorney was arrested and charged with assault related charges after severely beating up a female emergency medical technician worker, according to court proceedings in New York.

Now, the EMT worker was left shaking her head in disgust as the former prosecutor from Brooklyn, who savagely beat and strangled her dodged jail time in a plea agreement.

Michael Jaccarino, 30, entered his guilty plea to a charge of misdemeanor reckless assault and sentenced to 10 days of community service and six months of alcohol treatment.

Teresa Soler, the woman who was beaten by Jaccarino, was joined by nearly three dozen fellow EMTs in the Manhattan courtroom as the drunken government attorney confessed to his crime and apologized for the attack that happened in the back of an ambulance.
Soler was sent to help Jaccarino when he wandered into traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge after a night of heavy drinking.

"I have no memory of that night, of being on the Brooklyn Bridge, or being in the ambulance," Jaccarino said in court. "That said, I have no problem in accepting responsibility. I feel absolutely horrible and devastated by what happened. All I can do is apologize," he said in court.

Soler, who was left with two black eyes and with Jaccarino’s hand prints on her neck said that she does not think his apology is sincere.

Soler was left shaking her head as Jaccarino pleaded guilty to a lesser charge. In an ironic twist, prosecutors said that he was so drunk that convicting Jaccarino of a felony charge was nearly impossible.

"When she got home from school today the first thing she said was: ‘Dad, I've been suspended for my hair.’ I was horrified," he told a local television news station, adding that while he accepted the dress code he thought that the punishment was a little extreme.

(Scroll down for video) A young woman died after downing several gallons of Coca-Cola per day, according to a coroner in New Zealand.

The woman who drank up to 10 liters of Coca-Cola a day suffered a heart attack that killed a mother of eight in New Zealand, a coroner has found.

Natasha Harris, 30, from Invercargill, died several years ago after her partner Christopher Hodgkinson found her gasping for air while sitting on the toilet.

In results released today, Coroner David Crerar of New Zealand, blamed the extreme intake of Coca-Cola as a factor in her death, a finding that was immediately rebuked by the multinational company.

"I think that when all the evidence is considered, if not for the consumption of large amounts of Coca-Cola by Natasha Harris, it is unlikely that she would had died when she died and how he died," Crerar said.

The coroner estimated that Harris drank up to 10 liters of Coca-Cola a day, equivalent to more than 11 times the recommended intake of sugar and more than double the recommended amount of caffeine.

Hodgkinson said that the health of his partner had seriously deteriorated in the months before her death.
"She had no energy and felt sick all the time. She got up and vomited in the morning," he said.

"She would be very moody and get headaches if she didn’t drink Coca-Cola. She also felt low in energy," he added.

War room
By: Shifra Unger

The Israeli army has deployed full time computer and web security experts to battle hackers inside a newly launched war room, according to an official statement from the Israeli army.

Hackers are working for the Syrian regime of President Bashar al-Assad, while criminal elements around the world are trying to down websites of Israeli banks.

Israel also recently suffered an unprecedented cyber attack in retaliation for the Israeli army operation in Gaza. The IDF Computer Services Division responded to the increase in the number of cyber attacks on Israel by creating a special war room to protect their computer systems by detecting cyber attacks by hostile elements by launching counter attacks.

The initiative makes the IDF, the only army in the world to operate a war room specifically for cyber attacks. "We certainly saw a significant increase in the number of attempts to challenge our systems," a military source said. According to the source, there is a threat of one hacker or an army of hackers planting malicious software which are activated when the order is given to shut off the systems.

The new war room will be staffed 24 hours a day with about 20 soldiers who graduated from the IDF Cyber Shield Unit. The war room will allow the IDF to monitor and respond to any attempts of hacking, at all levels, from army equipment computers to the IDF Chief of Staff personal computer.

By: Shifra Unger

A convicted anti Semite caused an uproar in Brooklyn, New York, after he was seen dressed up as a Hasidic Jew, according to press reports in New York.

Disgraced and convicted fashion designer, John Galliano, sparked a new round of outrage yesterday, as he dressed as a Hasid to attend the Oscar de la Renta Fashion Week show in New York.

The fashion designed stepped outside with long jacket, a hat and curly side locks twists, after leaving a friend's apartment on the way to Manhattan’s de la Renta design studio on West 42nd street.
His attire surprised Jewish leaders in New York.

"He's trying to embarrass people in the Jewish community and make money on clothing, while dressed as people whom he has insulted," Williamsburg community leader, Isaac Abraham, complained. “It seems that the hairstyle was done purposely to add insult," he added.

"Who is he making fun of?" Brooklyn Assemblyman, Dov Hikind, asked. "The way he looked with the socks, jacket, peyos, my question is, who's laughing?” He added.

"If it was just any other person, I would not know what to say. But considering who this guy is, considering his background and what he has said in the past, he needs to explain it to all of us, are you making fun of us"? Hikind fumed.

Galliano was fired from Christian Dior in 2011, after a viral video showed him saying: "I love Hitler" in a Paris cafe. He was convicted in France of making racist insults in public and was rejected by the fashion industry.

Hamas to demolish 75 Palestinian homes in Gaza

Home destroyed by the Gaza government
By: Shifra Unger

The Hamas government in Gaza has announced that it will demolish 75 Palestinian homes in Gaza. But since it is not the Israeli government doing the demolition, the world is remaining quiet.

Several members of the Abu Amrah family in Gaza City demonstrated outside the offices of the Palestinian Legislative Council, protesting a decision by the Hamas-led government to demolish 75 houses belonging to the family in the neighborhood of Al-Rimal.

The government said it decided to demolish the houses because they were built illegally on public land. The demolition is scheduled to take place today.

"We are refugees and have been living in this area for decades," the family told a local Palestinian newspaper. The family also said that the government in Gaza suggested five new areas where families could choose to move.

But the father said that all these areas are sparsely populated border areas and have no services. He urged officials in the government of Gaza to suggest moving the families to populated areas, preferably not too far from where they live now. He said it would be difficult to send the children to school if they live in remote areas.

Another resident, Abu Hazim Hmeid, who lives in the area scheduled for demolition, appealed to President Mahmoud Abbas and the Prime Minister of Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh, to cancel the demolition noting that 75 families were being left homeless.

"The demolition will take place Wednesday, and when our children come home from school, they will not know where to go because at the time of their arrival, their houses will be gone. The only place they will have is the street and it is very cold outside," he told news reporters.

Several months ago, the Gaza government demolished another area that belonged to members of the same family, and offered residents land in the northern Gaza Strip to purchase. Some families agreed while 36 families refused.

Israel will allow construction materials from Turkey to enter the Gaza Strip to build a Joint Turkish-Israeli hospital, authorities said.

Jewish growth rate in the West Bank grows sharply

West Bank Jewish growth chart
By: David Ross

The Jewish growth rate in the West Bank or Judea and Samaria grew sharply in 2012, according to press rpeorts in Israel.

By Aryeh Savir

Tazpit News Agency For
YourJewishNews.com

An examination of the statistics presented by the Minister of Interior and the authorities in Judea and Samaria indicates that there has been a 0.5% increase in the growth rate of the Jewish population in Judea and Samaria.

360,000 Israelis currently reside in Judea and Samaria, an increase of 4.7%, or 17,000 new residents since 2011. This is a 0.5% increase in the growth rate in comparison with the previous year.

The highest growth rate was registered in 2008, an increase of 5.6%. Since then the growth rate has declined yearly, the lowest numbers recorded in 2011 due to the government imposed building freeze in Judea and Samaria. This trend has now reversed.

The average growth rate in the region since 2005 (the Disengagement) stands at an average of 5% a year. This rate is about three times faster then the average in all of the State of Israel (1.9%), making Judea and Samaria's population one of the fastest growing in Israel.

Another piece of data indicates that the remotest communities are the ones growing fastest. Maskiyot in the Jordan Valley grew by 30%. Har Gilo, grew by 20%. This may indicate that the motivation to live in Judea and Samaria is still ideological infused.

The average age of the population in Judea and Samaria is comparatively young, as indicated by the statistics presented by the elections committee.

51% of the population in Judea and Samaria are eligible voters, as opposed to 72% in the general Israeli population. This means 49% of the population in Judea and Samaria is under the age of 18, as opposed to only 28% of the population the rest of the country.

Avi Roeh, incoming chairman of the Yesha (Judea and Samaria) Council, stated: "Thank G-d, we are witness to an increase in number of students in the educational institutions, and especially in the grade schools. Our region is very attractive to young families and there is much demand for residents here.

We expect the government to acknowledge this necessity and develop all the communities and enlarge the schools in all of Judea and Samaria. This will further assist all the residents of Israel by making housing available and by bringing down the housing costs."

Miri Maoz-Ovadia, spokesperson for the Binyamin Council, the largest council in Judea and Samaria, told Tazpit News Agency that the increase in the population growth rate is evidence of the prosperity of the region.

"This prosperity has been supported by a development of joint industrial areas, shopping centers open to all populations and an increase of tourism throughout the region. We hope that the development continues for the benefit of all residents living in Judea & Samaria."

Brooklyn College
By: Ryan Lee Hall

(Scroll down for video) Brooklyn College caused uproar after holding an anti-Israel event on its college campus. The Jewish community became even more angry after several Jewish students were evicted from the event, according to press reports in New York.

Now, City University officials are investigating why the four Jewish students were expelled from the controversial anti-Israel forum sponsored by the Brooklyn College.

Campus police evicted graduate student Ari Ziegler, 23, and three colleagues from last week’s event, which presented the founder of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against Israel movement.
Ziegler, his brother, Michael, his friends Melanie Goldberg and Yvonne Juris, were expelled after presenting pro Israel brochures.

"If this were true, it was wrong and we need to understand exactly what the circumstances were," CUNY Chancellor Matthew Goldstein said.

University officials are also investigating why members of the media were barred from the forum. The investigation will be led by the top lawyer of CUNY, Frederick Schaffer, and an independent consultant, who will report their findings to Goldstein. In the video below you can hear part of the anti Israel discussions at Brooklyn College.

Conference of Presidents Report: American-Israeli Unity Strong As Ever

Malcolm Hoenlein with Benjamin Netanyahu
By: Ryan Lee Hall

A new report report reiterated that the U.S.-Israeli ties are as strong as ever.

By Anav Silverman

Tazpit News Agency For
YourJewishNews.com

‘Unity’ was one slogan that often came up during the 39th annual mission of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations held at Jerusalem’s Inbal Hotel – where 110 American Jewish leaders gathered together for meetings and conferences with Israeli figures throughout the week.

The annual mission, whose primary aim is to strengthen ties between the US Jewish community and Israeli leaders and policy makers, emphasized the close ties between American Jewish leaders and Israel. “This Conference is designed to allow us to hear Israel’s political, military and social leaders so we can devise specific ways to proactively work together to strengthen Israel…” said Malcolm Hoenlein, the executive vice chairman of the conference.

“There are 52 major Jewish organizations represented here. Our umbrella organization, which was established in the 1955, has everyone from the Anti-Defamation League to Peace Now,” Hoenlein told Tazpit News Agency. “We come from all religious and political spectrums from across the US.”

In light of the upcoming visit of President Barak Obama and the new Israeli government in formation under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the conference also stressed the unbreakable relationship between the United States and Israel.

Columbia University Professor Richard Stone, Chairman of the Conference of Presidents believes that the relationship between the current US presidency and Israel remains strong. “I reject the idea that there is a strained relationship between Israel and the United States,” he told reporters during a press conference on Tuesday, February 12.

Hoenlein, a veteran observer of Washington policies, believes that Obama’s visit to Israel “can be an opportunity to build between the two sides. I don’t think he [Obama] will propose or impose a plan [on Israel],“ he noted in an exclusive interview with Tazpit News Agency.

“Not a week goes by where, when there isn’t a visit from a key Israeli official to the US. Both countries do so much together and share important goals,” Hoenlein said.

During the conference, key political figures detailed those goals which included preventing Iran enriching uranium for its nuclear weapons program.

US Ambassador to Israel, Dan Shapiro told the audience on Monday, February 11, that US-led sanctions against Iran were crippling its economy and that “we will not let up until we achieve our goal of stopping a nuclear armed Iran.” He also added that “no options are off the table including a military option.”

If Iran were to become nuclear, it “would threaten the US and its allies in the region, spark a nuclear arms race in the volatile Middle East and threaten freedom of navigation in the Gulf,” elaborated the ambassador.

Shapiro also noted that President Obama was the fourth-sitting US President to ever visit Israel in office and that the ambassador was “thrilled” of the upcoming visit.

When asked about President Obama’s controversial nomination of Chuck Hagel for Pentagon chief, Shapiro portrayed Hagel as someone “deeply committed to Israeli security and the President’s policy to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.”

Following the US ambassador, Prime Minister Netanyahu also voiced his welcome for President Obama’s visit, stating that “…this is a wonderful opportunity to reaffirm the strategic relationship between Israel and the United States.” The Prime Minister mentioned that there were three main subjects that he would bring up during the president’s visit including “Iran, Syria, and the pursuit of peace.”

Netanyahu emphasized the importance of unity in the face of ongoing global terrorism, as well as in the face of Israel’s “enormous external challenges and great internal challenges.”

“We’ll achieve a government here that maximizes unity, and I know that we’ll work together with you to maximize Jewish unity, in the United States, in the Jewish communities around the world and here in Israel to secure the future of the one and only Jewish state,” Netanyahu told the American Jewish leaders.

To end the evening on a lighter note, Hoenlein presented the Israeli Prime Minister with a newly printed Book of Genesis, Beresheit, and a Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl T-shirt.

Ultra-Orthodox Jewish mother of 11 elected to Knesset

Orit Struk
By: Shifra Unger

(scroll down for audio) The Ultra-Orthodox Jewish community, now has a feisty representative in the Knesset to work on their behalf.

Israelis are known to have a passion to fight for their God given country.
After Israel gave up Gaza, most Israelis have recognised that it has been a terrible move, as the Muslims are now using Gaza, as a platform to kill innocent Jewish men, women and children.

Since then, there has been much talk about settlement freeze and/or giving away more Jewish settlements to the Palestinian Authority.

Many Jewish men and women who would otherwise not have gone into politics, felt the need to do so in order to save Jewish lives and their livelihoods.
There is a record number of legislators appointed to Knesset, who live in Jewish settlements in the West Bank. There are also a record number of women serving in the Knesset.

Orit Struk, is a 52-year-old Ultra-Orthodox Jewish mother of 11.
Her children are between the ages of 13-years-old to 31-years-old, and she is a grandmother to 12 grandchildren.

After she married her husband Abraham Struk, they moved to a settlement in Hebron, where they became one of the first founding families of the Jewish community of Hevron.
Struk was one of the founders of the Organization for Human Rights in Judea and Samaria, which she still directs.

Last month, Struk was elected to the Knesset as number 10 on the list of Naftali Bennett’s Bayit Hayehudi or Jewish Home party.

When asked how she manages to balance public life with raising 11 children, she explained:
"It's not easy, but for the sake of the Land of Israel we do many things that are not easy for us.” she went on to explain that as a mother of a large family she had a lot of sleepless nights, she was willing to do it for her family and she will do anything for the land of Israel.

Woman collects rent on her neighbors’ house without their knowledge

Nathalie Heil
By: David Ross

(Scroll down for video) Is seems to be the new “American Dream”, where people take over foreclosed homes and use it as their own.

A woman is accused of taking over her neighbor’s foreclosed house. She rented it out through Craigslist, and collecting more than $13,000 in rent before the owner found out the fraud and called police.

Nathalie Heil, 30, of West Palm Beach, Florida, was arrested. She is facing charges of theft and fraud. She was released after posting bail of $6,000.

Heil, is defending her right to the property she claims to have ownership of the house, because she has filed "adverse possession” papers.

The adverse possession claim was created hundreds of years ago when hand-scrawled property records could be easily lost, damaged or confused. Given that adverse possession property remained a productive use of land when ownership was unclear, or for example, if the owner died without heirs.

If the person claiming adverse possession remains in the house for seven years, paying taxes and caring for the property, the person can then take permanent possession.

By: Debbie Gross

(Scroll down for video) Everyone knows about the famous facebook “Like” button. But what people do not know is that there was a company that already had the “Like” button before facebook, according to a new lawsuit filed in court.

Facebook was sued by a company that says it owns the patents on the “Like” button.
Rembrandt Social Media is suing facebook for using the button, according to press reports in the United Kingdom.

Rembrandt said that the success of facebook is due to its technology, at least in part, to patents belonging to Dutch programmer Joannes Jozef Everardus van Der Meer, who died in 2004.

Facebook declined to comment, but a lawyer for Rembrandt, which owns the patents, said that the patents "are an important basis of social networks."

Van Der Meer, who was awarded the patent in 1998, launched his own unsuccessful social network, called SurfBook, a "social newspaper" that, according to lawyers of Rembrandt, allowed people to share information and pass data with a “Like” button.

(Scroll down for video) A gang of teen girls were caught on video in a string of train station attacks in Australia, according to video uploaded to the internet.

The stunning video reveals the violence plaguing the railway stations in the largest cities in Australia.
While politicians warned that the budget cuts are causing decreased security at Sydney train stations, CCTV recordings captured a series of vicious attacks.

A group of teenage girls can be seen violently beating a couple at the Blacktown station. The assault was so severe that the man was left unconscious, while the woman’s face was left covered in blood.

During another incident at the Cabramatta station, a man is beaten repeatedly on the ground by a group of young men and women while security guards tried to intervene.

The police finally arrived on the scene, pointing tasers at the attackers in an attempt to prevent the continued attacks on the victim.

Statistics from the Office of Crime revealed that there are on average three attacks every day on the trains in Sydney.
Opposition Transport Minister Penny Sharpe said that the cuts are having an effect due to a reduction in the number of guards patrolling the stations.

She said that no police officers are on duty after midnight between Sunday and Wednesday.
She added: "These are serious incidents and people's lives are ruined as a result. Three attacks a day is three more attacks. Fewer police officers are patrolling the train stations than ever before."

One man who suffered a fractured skull, brain hemorrhage and lost hearing in his right ear after an attack told a local newspaper: "I was pretty much knocked unconscious as soon as I was hit and I think my head hit the ground. I do not remember what happened during the next three days.”

(Scroll down for video) People in North Korea are secretly reporting that there is a growing trend of parents eating their own children in the famine hit country, according to press reports in the United Kingdom.

A man was recently executed in North Korea, after murdering his two children for food, an undercover reporter told the British press.

There is a silent hunger in the agricultural provinces of North and South Hwanghae, which is believed to have killed more than 10,000 people and raising fears that cannibalism will become widespread.

The grim stories emerged as hungry residents were angered after the farms affected by drought and shortages had their food confiscated by party officials.

Undercover reporters from Asian press agencies told a British newspaper that a man dug up the corpse of his grandson and ate it. Another, boiled his own son for food.

Despite reports of widespread famine, Kim Jong Un, 30, has spent large sums of money to launch two rockets in recent months. This week North Korea also launched a nuclear test.

One informant was quoted as saying: "In my village, a man who killed his two children and tried to eat them was executed by a firing squad."

The informant said that the father killed his eldest daughter while his wife was on a business trip and then killed his son because he had witnessed the murder.

When his wife returned home the man told her that he had meat, but she became suspicious and contacted officials who discovered the bodies of the children.
