Jews being rounded up during World War Two
By: Shifra Unger

Jews who hid from the Nazi regime in Amsterdam received hefty fines for avoiding to pay taxes after World War Two, according to press reports in Amsterdam.

Amsterdam Jews who survived the Holocaust, either in hiding or in concentration camps, were later fined for not paying taxes during the war.

During the war, many Jews had their homes confiscated, allegedly for not paying taxes. According to the report, the houses were given to members of the Dutch Nazi party.

City officials continued to try to collect taxes from the survivors after the war.

Last year, the Dutch government made headlines with its persistent refusal to apologize for the apathy that the Dutch government in exile proved to the raid and the murder of most of the Jews in the country during the Holocaust.

The prime minister said that an apology was not offered because the Jewish community had not requested one.
“It is an extreme level of cruelty to punish those who were persecuted by the Nazi regime. These people have suffered enough,” Amanda Edwards, 21, of Amsterdam told YourJewishNews.com.

U.S. funded Muslim group apologizes after claiming that Jews use Christian blood for Passover matza

Hanan Ashrawi founder of Miftah
By: David Ross

A U.S. and U.N backed Muslim group published an article on its website which claimed that Jews use Christian blood for its Passover matza, according to press reports and Jewish rights groups.

Now, the nonprofit organization has finally removed the article from its website which accused Jews of using Christian blood in Passover, following the wave of criticism.

MIFTAH, founded by the Palestinian Authority legislator Hanan Ashrawi, apologized for the article's publication, after initially refusing to do so.

The article, which has already been removed from the MIFTAH website, sparked outrage among Jewish leaders and others who condemned the nonprofit for reigniting the anti-Semitic blood libel.
The article also criticized President Barack Obama for his Passover greetings.

"Much of the talk and gossip about historical Jewish blood rituals in Europe are real and not fake as they say, the Jews used the blood of Christians for the Jewish Passover," the article said.

MIFTAH has received much of its funding from Western governments, including the U.S. Taxpayer supported National Endowment for Democracy, the Ford Foundation, the United Nations and various European governments.
MIFTAH originally defended its right to publish the article.

The article was about promoting dialogue, MIFTAH claimed.
“The Palestinians claim that they want a lasting peace agreement with Israel. However, by publishing such articles, all it does is increase hate among the ignorant public who read these articles,” Igor Romanenko, 51, an expert on Middle Eastern issues told YourJewishNews.com.

Jewish groups, including the Anti-Defamation League and the Simon Wiesenthal Center, immediately denounced the anti Semitic article.

By: Ryan Lee Hall

(Scroll down for video) A mother is suing the New York Police Department including three police officers after an officer pepper sprayed her young children.

The officer pepper sprayed a woman and her family, including her 2-year-old child and 5-month-old. The altercation started when officers accused the mother of jumping the turnstile without paying her train fare at a subway.

Marilyn Taylor was on the subway in Manhattan, New York, with her four-year-old daughter, her two-year-old and five-month-old baby. According to the lawsuit, Taylor was pushing her 2-year-old child in a carriage while holding her 4-year-old daughter’s hand. The children’s father, Dehaven McClain, was holding the couple’s 5-month-old baby. Taylor pushed the carriage through a service entrance at the train station rather than through the traditional turnstile.

At that point police officers accused her of skipping payment. Officers Maripily Clase, Suranjit Dey and Jermaine Hodge stopped the family and questioned the mother. According to the complaint, one of the officers then became aggressive and pepper sprayed the mother before officers arrested her.

When the daughter began to cry, Taylor knelt down to comfort her, police officers pepper sprayed her, hitting the whole family in the process. The pepper spray caused the children to scream and the two-year-old to vomit.

“Police officers are supposed to protect children, not hurt them. I cannot understand why officers used pepper spray in this incident. It was impossible for the mother to escape with all her children in tow,” Jonathan Lewis, 22, from the Bronx, New York told YourJewishNews.com.

Taylor claims that officers Dey and Hodge then pushed her so roughly that the handcuffs bruised her wrists and she hurt her lower back. The mother claims that her children suffered emotional trauma, are afraid of riding a train and they are get scared every time they see a police officer.

The family is seeking punitive damages for civil rights violations, assault, battery, negligence, and violations to the state and federal constitutions.

Last week, YourJewishNews.com reported that Dido, also expressed her opinion about matza.

Today, matza can be found in many shapes and tastes. There are square matza and round ones. Their are thick matza that look like a pita bread, and their are the thin cracker like matza.

Within the round cracker like simple matza there are a variety of different options. There are flour and water matza, egg matza and chocolate covered matza with different toppings such as sprinkles and coconut.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view

Tazpit News Agency For

The tragic deaths of three brothers from the Bedouin village Kuseife in the Negev, who were swept off to sea by strong currents during their family’s visit to the Ashkelon coast last Thursday, shocked Israel. After four days of rescue efforts which involved the Israeli Navy, police ships, jet skis, helicopter, and divers, the third brother’s body, Nahed Sariye was discovered on Sunday, March 31.

Nahed, 26, and his brothers, Suliman, 19, and Atef, 16, were buried together on Sunday in a funeral that drew hundreds from across the region.

On Tuesday, however, emerged a story of heroism following the tragic events. On that fateful Thursday, two other brothers from the Sariye family had been saved by Yaakov Bruchim, a 22-year-old from Ashkelon. Bruchim was walking back home following prayers at his synagogue, when he saw a helicopter at Ashkelon’s Delilah Beach.

“I asked myself what was a helicopter doing at the beach,” Bruchim told Israel’s Walla! News. “Suddenly, I heard shouting and didn’t understand why.”

At that point, Bruchim saw the two brothers drowning and immediately jumped into the water and pulled one of the brothers, Salaam, 22, out to shore. He entered the deep waters again and pulled the other brother, Salman, 19, out as well.

Hassan Sariye, the father of the boys, said that although he lost three sons, he gained another in Yaakov Bruchim. “God took away three sons but gave us another,” the emotional father told Likud-Yisrael Beiteinu’s Yitzhak Aharonovitch, the Israeli Minister of Internal Security, who came to visit the bereaved family on Tuesday, April 2.

“He [Yaakov] is one of those people who doesn’t care about race, gender, or origin. He is a beautiful face of Israel,” said Sariye.

Even after saving the two brothers, Yaakov continued to stay with the Sariye family for the four days of search and rescue until the other bodies had been found. “He’s here all the time,” said Hassan. “He is like my son, one of the brothers, and my home is open to him and his family 24 hours.”

The modest Bruchim explained that he “didn’t do anything, but if I could have done more, I would have.” “He is like my brother,” Bruchim said of Salaam. “With people like him we can live in peace.”

“This is a tragedy for the nation of Israel,” said Minister Aharonovitch to Israeli reporters on Tuesday. “To lose three sons, is too much.”

Number of Jews in Israel pass symbolic 6 million mark

Jewish children in Israel
By: Ryan Lee Hall

The number of Jews currently living in Israel have passed a symbolic milestone, according to the latest census data.

As the number of Jews living outside of Israel has been in decline the number of Jews living in Israel has exceeded six million, and is now home to the largest number of Jews in the world.

The report attributes the figures to the growing number of people who have immigrated to Israel and a rise in birth rates in Israel.
Since 2012, about 17,000 people have moved to Israel and 170,000 babies were born in the country. The total population of Israel has already surpassed the eight million mark.

Hebrew University Professor Sergio Della Pergola, who collected the data, said: "Israel has experienced a growth in the number of Jews last year, but the Jews in the world outside of Israel did not fare as well. Jews in Israel have multiplied while Jews around the world outside Israel have decreased.”

There are about 13.8 million Jews worldwide, accounting for 0.2 percent of the global population of seven billion.
The United States has the second highest concentration of Jews, with two million living in New York and five and a half million in total. France comes next, with 500,000 Jewish residents.

“It is great news to learn that the Jewish population in Israel has surpassed the 6 million mark. Until now, when speaking of 6 million Jews, everyone was referring to the number of Jews who were killed in the Holocaust during World War Two. The next mark to watch is Israel being the home of the majority of the Jewish population,” Moshe Jacobson, 45, of Beit Shemesh, Israel told YourJewishNews.com.

There are 1.6 million Arabs living in Israel and 350,000 Christians.

The poll also showed that the younger generation supports a ban in larger numbers than the older population.

“At a time when liberalism is becoming widespread it is surprising to see such a large number of people who support restrictions on religious freedoms. The poll showed us that people are increasingly becoming intolerant of Jews and their practices,” a Jewish community activist in London, England told YourJewishNews.com.

Susan Alexandria Tinker
By: John Roberts

(Scroll down for video) People try to come up with different April fools’ day pranks, but for one woman, her prank landed her in jail.

Susan Alexandria Tinker, 21, who works at the Waffle house was jailed after she allegedly called police to report a burglary, but police later determined that it was nothing more than an April fools’ day prank.

According to Hampton police, officers were dispatched to the Hampton Inn, Waffle House, in Hampton, Virginia around 6:00 am after police operators received a report that the restaurant had just been robbed.

When officers arrived at the scene, they used a K9 unit to search for the alleged thief. After reviewing surveillance camera footage, investigators determined that there had not been a robbery.

Airline begins charging passengers according to their weight

Samoa Air airplane
By: Debbie Gross

(Scroll down for video) If you are sick of paying hefty prices for airline tickets, help is on the way. A small airline introduced fees based on passenger weight, therefore, if you are slim you will enjoy super cheap prices, according to a statement released by the company.

Samoa Air, which is a small airline, is offering a new reason to lose those extra pounds before your next trip. “If you weigh less you pay less,” according to the new pricing formula.

Samoa Air is scheduled to begin the new pricing formula on Wednesday. Depending on the flight, each kilogram or 2.2 pounds, will cost 93 cents to $1.06.

That means that the average U.S. man weighing at 195 pounds with a 35 pound bag would have to pay $97 to go one way between Apia, Samoa and Pago Pago, American Samoa. Competitors typically charge $130 to $140 round trip for similar routes.

Pricing based on weight is not new for the company, which launched in June. The company has used the pricing model since November, but in January the U.S. Department of Transportation approved its international route between American Samoa and Samoa.

“I’m a very thin man and I always believed that it is unfair that I have to pay the same price as the fat person for an airline ticket,” Eddie Zarrow, 25, of Argentina told YourJewishNews.com.

“I am very angry at this new pricing scheme. I believe the airline and the industry will be punishing those who are overweight. Overweight people are already bullied enough,” an overweight woman in Newark, New Jersey told YourJewishNews.com.

The CEO of the airline, Chris Langton, said: "the planes are run by weight and not per seat, and travelers should be educated on this important fact. The plane can only carry a certain amount of weight and that weight has to be paid for. There cannot be any other way."

Army veteran slammed after showing off nice tattoos on his dogs

Dog tattoo
By: Eva Fett

(Scroll down for video) Seems like tattoos are only meant for people and not dogs.

An army veteran is feeling the heat after he showed off the new tattoos of his beloved dogs, according to press reports in North Carolina.

Ernesto Rodriguez, an Army veteran and tattoo artist in Stokes County, North Carolina, signed his two pit bulls, Duke and Duchess, on their stomachs. The man said that he tattooed his dogs for identification. The four-month-old Duchess was allegedly tattooed while it was asleep after having its ears cropped.

Rodriguez posted a picture of his work on his facebook page for Planet Ink Tattoos and subsequently removed the photos.
Many people are accusing Rodriguez of animal abuse for tattooing dogs. Animal advocate Caleb Scott disputed Rodriguez’s claims that the dog was still asleep when getting the tattoo.

“I can just imagine the pain these innocent defenseless dogs had to endure just because this artist wanted to show off. This is unacceptable,” David Zebrowski, 23, who is an animal rights advocate in Miami, Florida told YourJewishNews.com.
Not everyone agrees though. “If people can get tattoos why can’t dogs get tattoos as well,” Samuel Birchwood, 28, a tattoo artist in Hollywood, Florida told YourJewishNews.com.

All, of this has caught the government's eye.
The health department issued a cease and desist order against Rodriguez.

Incredible dog caught on video doing 20 exceptional stunts

By: Eva Fett

(Scroll down for video) A dog was caught on video doing 20 exceptional stunts that adults cannot even do, according to a video uploaded to YouTube.

Just as the name of the video states, Jumpy is one tough dog, performing 20 incredible tricks in this vidoe clip of one minute.
The Australian border collie walks through a series of traffic cones on his front feet, jumps thourugh the air, and even does a series of stunts on a skateboard that most humans cannot do.

The dog’s owner, Omar von Muller, has a long history of exceptional dog training. He is best known for training "Uggie" in the Oscar-winning video "The Artist." In an interview in 2012, Von Muller said there is no magic to his incredible dog training results, it simply comes down to finding the right dog and putting in the hours of training. However, that is easier said than done for most owners of dogs.

"My advice would be to train and ensure the consistency of practice," he said. "I've been training for about 30 years myself," he added.

“I watched the video and the things this dog can do are simply amazing. I hardly know any people who can do all of these stunts,” Marie Camper, 20, of Los Angeles, California told YourJewishNews.com after seeing the video.
Although, let's give credit where credit is due. Mainly, Jumpy himself.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view

Woman claims she saw and smelled God during cardiac arrest

Crystal McVea
By: Moses Gold

(Scroll down for video) A woman who who passed out claimed that she stood before God and smelled him, according to press reports in the United States.

The woman told a U.S. television news station that all of this happened during a recent near-death experience.

"I saw a huge brightness, a glow I could feel, touch, taste, hear and smell. It's not like I had five senses, but more like I had 500 senses," Crystal McVea, author of a new book, told the television news station.

A recent university study found that people who recall their near-death experiences have vivid memories of the events, whether from imaginary events that took place during the event or from earlier real life experiences.

In 2009, McVea was being treated for pancreatitis. After having a bad reaction to pain medication, her heart stopped for nine minutes before doctors were able to revive her.

"By the time I closed my eyes in that hospital room, I immediately opened them and stood in the sky," McVea said. "I cannot find human words to describe what I experienced while I was there," she added.

McVea said that the experience transformed her as a person. She said that she also participated in an intense spiritual negotiation as to whether she had to return to life on earth.

"All my life, I was a skeptic," she said. "To close your eyes, open them and stand before the Creator of the universe, I felt that I never want to leave." she continued.

“People often mistake imaginary experiences with real life events during such states of unconsciousness, according to numerous studies carried out by scientists,” professor Mark Bloomfield, 53, of Boston, Massachusetts told YourJewishNews.com.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
