Arab League agrees to land swap peace deal with Israel for the first time

Israeli settlers in the West Bank
By: Shifra Unger

(Scroll down for video) For the first time ever, the Arab League has agreed to recognize Israel’s seizure of land captured during the 1967 war, according to a statement by an Arab League official.

Israel responded favorably on Tuesday to an apparent weakening of the Arab League stance on the 1967 border issue, after a senior official of Qatar raised the possibility of land swaps in establishing boundaries between the Jewish state and an independent Palestine.

The original proposal of the Arab League offered full recognition of Israel, but only if it surrendered all the land seized in the 1967 war and accepted a "just solution" for Palestinian refugees. Israel, which has long said it would not return to pre-war borders of 1967, rejected the plan at the time.

"Israel welcomes the encouragement given by the delegation of the Arab League and the Secretary of State to the diplomatic process," a senior government official said after talks in Washington on Monday between a delegation of the Arab League and John Kerry on how to advance the stalled Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.

In the 1967 conflict, Israel occupied the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, areas which Palestinians hoped to establish their state. Peace talks sponsored by the United States have been frozen since 2010 in a dispute over Israeli settlement expansion in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

After the meeting with Kerry, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim al-Thani, Qatar's prime minister and foreign minister, told reporters: "The Arab League delegation said the agreement should be based on the two-state solution on the basis of the June 4, 1967 line, with the possibility of land swaps.
Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said the statement reflected a long standing Palestinian position.

“This is definitely a step in the direction of a final peace agreement. I hope that this announcement can spark the return to peace negotiations which will ultimately bring about a lasting peace,” Debra Lewis, 41, of Baltimore, Maryland told YourJewishNews.com after learning about the announcement.

Whatever the position of the Arab League, internal Palestinian divisions represent a serious obstacle, however. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who has negotiated with Israel, dominates only in the West Bank, while rival Hamas controls Gaza and refuses to recognize Israel or renounce violence.Mobile video not loading? Hungary police bans extremist protest against Jews at World Jewish Congress conference

Hate graffiti in Hungary
By: Shifra Unger

Hungary police have moved to ban a right winged protest against Jews at the World Jewish Congress conference to be held this week, according to a police statement in Hungary.

Hungary has banned a far right demonstration planned for the day before the opening of the World Jewish Congress conference scheduled to be held in the country’s capital city.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has instructed the police to avoid any disturbance during the conference, which starts on Sunday and is expected to express concern about the rise of anti-Semitism in Europe.

"The police captain of the city of Budapest has banned an anti-Bolshevik and anti-Zionist organized rally in parallel with the opening of the World Jewish Congress," the government said in a statement.
Orban will address the conference on Sunday, where he will send a clear message against anti-Semitism, an aide said.

The government has also expressed its condolences to Ferenc Orosz, the head of a Hungarian anti-racist group who was attacked by right-wing soccer fans after facing down people chanting Nazi slogans during a game on Sunday.

“The anti Jewish situation across Europe is spiraling out of control and if governments fail to stop this it will end badly, just like in the 1930s. The Hungarian government deserves praise for its efforts to curb anti-Semitic events,” Kathleen Clark, 46, of Berlin, Germany told YourJewishNews.com after learning about the ban.

"Interior Minister Sandor Pinter has assured that the government will take all possible measures to arrest the perpetrators so they can feel the weight of justice," the government said in statement.

By: David Ross

(Scroll down for video) A woman was arrested after she was seen placing tainted orange juice into a Starbucks refrigerator.

By: Moses Gold

(Scroll down for video) A man lost his life savings playing a carnival game.

At first, the New Hampshire man tried a couple of practice rounds and he won most of the games, but when he started playing a real game he lost every time.

Now, the man is accusing the game’s owner of rigging the game and he wants his money back.
Henry Gribbohm, tried his luck at a carnival game in order to win an Xbox. He did not win, instead, he lost his life savings which was about $2,600.

30-year-old Gribbohm was trying to win an Xbox Kinect at Manchester, New Hampshire Carnival.
Gribbohm of Epsom, was playing a game called “Tubs of fun”, in which contestants throw balls in a bathtub to win prizes, but as hard as he tried, the balls kept popping out.

"It is possible that the game wasn't rigged, you just get caught up in the whole thing" Gribbohm said.
Gribbohm had $300, when he started playing. He went home to get $2,300 more hoping to make back the money he lost, but he soon lost all that too.

“These games are so addictive, it is just like gambling but on a small scale, people get sucked into it and they cannot stop. It is sad that he lost all his life savings, he could have bought several new Xbox games for the price he spent trying to win one,” Paul Moore, 37, of Dover, New Hampshire told YourJewishNews.com after watching the video.

Gribbohm, who is convinced that the game is rigged, went back to the carnival the next day and discussed the issue with the owner of the “Tubs of fun” game. The owner agreed to give him back $600. Gribbohm filed a police report. The Manchester Police Department is investigating the incident. Gribbohm did however manage to win a over sized stuffed banana with dreadlocks. He is considering a lawsuit.

"For the first time in my life I went on to become that sucker," Gribbohm said.
While the investigation is ongoing the “Tubs of fun” game was banned from being part of the upcoming New Hampshire-based Fiesta Shows carnival.

An Israeli father of five children, Evyatar Borovsky was stabbed to death at a bus stop at the Tapuach junction located northeast of Ariel by a Palestinian man this morning. The Palestinian terrorist who committed the murder is being celebrated on Fatah’s Facebook page according to Palestinian Media Watch (PMW).

Fatah’s Facebook page declares the Palestinian murderer, who was a Fatah operative that was recently released from Israeli prison after serving three years for stone throwing - a hero. Pictures of the Palestinian terrorist and the Israeli victim, who comes from the community of Yitzhar, appear on the Fatah Facebook page with text that describes the murders as “The hero, the released prisoner, Salam Al-Zaghal.”

PMW indicated that the photos appeared on the main page of the Facebook page for “The Recruitment and Organization Commission of Fatah. Fatah’s Facebook page administrator described the Palestinian as “the youth Salam Al-Zaghal who stabbed the settler at the Al Za’atara military checkpoint,” and who “come[s] from the village of Shweika located in the Tulkarem District.”

Borovsky, a 31-year-old father and part-time security guard, was approached by Al-Zaghal while he was waiting at the bus stop. The terrorist took a knife out of his bag and stabbed Borovsky three times, killing him at the scene. The terrorist then grabbed Borovsky’s gun and shot at border police standing nearby, who returned fire about 150 meters away, wounding the Palestinian and managing to stop any further attacks. The terrorist was then evacuated to the Rabin Medical Center in Petach Tikva.

According to PMW, Fatah frequently glorifies terrorists and terror, with the most event held at a Palestinian girls' elementary school. On April 17, the Palestinian Ministry of Culture in the Tulkarem district in cooperation with the Director of Education, marked Prisoners’ Day and the 25th anniversary of the death of Palestinian terrorist, Abu Jihad, with culture and song at the Omar Bin Abd Al-Aziz Elementary School for Girls.

Abu Jihad, or Khalil Al-Wazir, was the founder of Fatah and deputy to Yasser Arafat. He lead the military wing of the PLO which planned many deadly Fatah terror attacks including the most lethal in Israeli history, the hijacking of a bus and the killing of 37 civilians including 12 children in 1978.

New York deli slapped with lawsuit by Rolex after naming itself Roll-X

Roll-x deli
By: Debbie Gross

If you give your business a name that sounds similar to that of a popular brand in order to enjoy a free ride, be prepared to pay hefty fines.

A New York deli, formerly known as Rolex Deli, is being sued by the luxury watchmaker Rolex for the second time, after the deli named itself, Roll-x Deli.

Shawqu Ali was forced to change the name of the deli store last month after Rolex Watch USA won a lawsuit alleging that the name will confuse customers into thinking that the eatery stands up to the "quality and prestige" of Rolex watches, according to a court filing.

Ali faces $20,000 in civil penalties for contempt, after it took him too long to change the offending sign, Ali changed the sign last month rather than last year as ordered by the court, and Rolex has filed a lawsuit claiming that the new name, Roll-x Deli, is too similar to their name, Rolex.

Ehab Moustafa, an attorney for the deli store, said the owner was not aware of the $500 per day fine for the delay in the change to the new name, which the lawyer said that is legally distinct from Rolex.
"It is totally different," Moustafa said. "Roll-x doesn't sound at all like Rolex," the attorney added.

“I have no clue on what plant the deli’s attorney lives on, as Rolex and Roll-x sounds exactly the same to me. The deli should remove the sign and change the name immediately,” Melissa Anderson, 43, of New York City told YourJewishNews.com after learning about the lawsuit against Roll-x deli filed by Rolex.

U.S. military 747 crashes into the ground
By: Ryan Lee Hall

(Scroll down for video) The moment a 747 crashed into the ground and exploded into a ball of fire was captured on video by a fearless movie maker, according to video uploaded to the internet.

The crash, killed seven U.S. citizens on board near an air force base in Afghanistan.
The friend of one of the seven U.S. residents killed in the cargo plane crash, described him as an experienced pilot who worked well under pressure.

First Officer Jamie Brokaw, of Monroe, was one of six people from Michigan who died Monday, along with a person from Kentucky.
"He was a very good and a very intelligent person," Chris Connerton of Rochester, Minnesota said.
Connerton credited Brokaw with helping him get through flight school and a terrible flight two years ago from Toledo, Ohio.

The cargo plane crashed at the airbase in Afghanistan.
The Dubai-bound Boeing 747-400 was operated by National Air Cargo and crashed shortly after takeoff Monday from Bagram air base around 11:20 am local time, the National Transportation Safety Board said in a statement Tuesday.
The crash site is located within the perimeter of Bagram Air Base.

“I feel sorry for all the families who have lost loved ones in this incident. Unfortunately, accidents do happen and judging from the video that is widely available on the internet, it seems that the plane simply lost control,” Brenda Garcia, 33, of Columbia, Missouri told YourJewishNews.com after watching the video.

The Taliban quickly claimed responsibility for shooting down the plane, but NATO later said that their statements were false, and there was no sign of insurgent activity in the area at the time of the accident.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view

Woman takes away her husband's Star Trek themed home

Tony Alleyne in his Star Trek apartment
By: Ryan Lee Hall

(Scroll down for video) A man who spent thousands of dollars to create a Star Trek themed home has lost it all to his wife who was divorcing him, according to court proceedings in the United kingdom.

When the obsessed Star Trek man, Tony Alleyne, separated from his wife, he embraced the chance to turn their old apartment into a recreation of the interior of the Starship Enterprise.

However, all of the 58-year-old’s efforts have been in vain.
His former wife decided to sell the apartment and divide the cash.

Alleyne has spent the last ten years transforming the one bedroom apartment into a sci-fi fantasy, with a computerized flight deck, lights and even transporters.
He is devastated by the news that his former wife, Georgina, wants to sell the apartment which is located in Hinckley, Leicestershire, where he has been living by himself since they have broken up.

Alleyne said it would cost at least $150,000 to rebuild the interior elsewhere.
Alleyne said that by saying he feels devastated it would be an understatement. He also cried when he learned that he will lose the apartment he worked so hard to build.

“That is what life is all about. One day you have it all and the next day you lose it all. I suggest that this man take the proceeds of the apartment he receives and rebuild it elsewhere,” Jessica Martin, 33, of Kansas City, Missouri told YourJewishNews.com after learning about the Star Trek themed home.

“I must say that this man did a great job. Maybe some people who have money will hire the guy to build them a Star Trek themed home as well,” she added.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view

Elderly female tax dodger tells government you can take my coffin

Nice coffin illustration
By: Ryan Lee Hall

An elderly woman mocked government workers when she was sentenced on tax dodging charges, according to court proceedings in Sweden.

The 91-year-old woman, who was sentenced in Sweden on 5 counts of tax fraud, told authorities: “You can seize my coffin when I die.”

The woman, who was identified only by her first name Ingrid, was convicted of five counts of tax fraud dating back to the 1960s and she was spared jail because of her advanced age.

Ingrid was sentenced to probation and received a large fine. She told the court that she has no money to pay, and she has no valuable possessions for authorities to take.

"The house I live in, is not registered in my name, there is nothing that they can take," she said. "They may have my casket when I'm gone," she laughed.

Ingrid, who authorities said owes hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes, said she never intentionally misstated her income on her taxes.

“It seems like sometimes if you are able to get away with a crime until you reach an old age you can also escape the punishment. If I were the judge, I think I would have jailed the woman just like any other tax dodger in order to deter others from cheating on their taxes,” Margaret Thomas, 56, of Paramous, New Jersey told YourJewishNews.com after learning about the elderly tax dodger.

"I worked like a dog all my life and never deliberately misled anyone or the state," Ingrid also said.

Teen leads police on high speed chase so he wouldn't miss his prom

Daniel Buck
By: Eva Fett

A teen was arrested and charged with resisting arrest related charges after leading police on a high speed chase because he did not want to miss his prom, according to a statement released by the Missouri State Police.

The suspect was identified by police as 19-year-old Daniel Buck.

Police said that an officer patrolling Highway 61 Friday night checked the vehicle tags and they were registered to another vehicle. The officer also ran a computer check and found that the vehicle owner, Daniel Buck of O'Fallon, had his license revoked. A criminal check also showed that he had several active orders for his arrest.

The driver of the truck, which matched the description of Buck, accelerated when he saw police following him and went to another road while traveling at a maximum speed of 80 miles per hour, police said.

Police said Buck drove through a front yard and almost hit a power pole before his truck was disabled by special stop strips. He tried to flee on foot, but was captured by police.

The suspect allegedly told police he fled because he knew he had nine outstanding orders for his arrest for not appearing in court on various charges, and he did not want go to jail, because he was supposed to take his girlfriend to the prom on Saturday night.

“Unfortunately, young people do stupid things sometimes. He just made his problems worse by speeding away from police and instead of resolving his outstanding warrants, the teen thought that by ignoring his problems it will go away. I hope he learned his lesson,” Nancy Jackson, 36, of St. Louis, Missouri told YourJewishNews.com after learning about the teen.
Buck was jailed on a $15,000 cash bond, and he was not able to make his prom.

Woman arrested after cutting tow truck cable which pulled her car

Tow truck illustration
By: Eva Fett

A woman was arrested and charged with criminal mischief related charges after she tried to prevent her car from being towed away, according to a statement released by the New Jersey State Police.

Police in New Jersey said they arrested the woman after she cut the cable from the tow truck in order to prevent her car from being repossessed.

Bridgeton Police Chief Mark Ott said an employee from Quick Towing was repossessing a Chrysler Pacifica 2004, near the Social Security office 12:15 am Monday morning when the car owner, Wanda Young, 52, tried to drive away with the car hooked to the tow truck.

Police said the woman tried to drive her car out three times, and during the third attempt the tow truck cable snapped, causing about $4,000 in damage to the truck.

Young was arrested shortly after police arrived and police said the Young was still driving with the broken section of the tow cable hooked to her car.

“I have to say that I feel bad for this woman. These tow trucks show up at the worst possible times and tow away cars. It was early morning, and I am sure the woman panicked at the thought of being left alone outside without her car. Tow truck drivers need to use common sense as well, before doing stupid things,” Susan Johnson, 33, of Fort Lee, New Jersey, told YourJewishNews.com after learning about Young.

Young was charged with criminal mischief and released.

(Scroll down for video) The snakes seem to be on the attack recently.

A woman from California said that she was driving on the highway north of Los Angeles when all of a sudden she realized that a king snake is slithering between her legs.

Angie Guerrero said she was driving down Highway 14 in Santa Clarita, and almost hit a car in the next lane when she saw the snake slithering on the floor between her legs.

Guerrero said she pulled to the side of the road, took her dogs out of the car and called police.
The California Highway Patrol discovered the snake hidden in the dashboard of the vehicle and animal experts identified it as a non-poisonous king snake.

Guerrero said that she will check her car for intruders before driving, from now on.
"How would someone know to search for snakes? Who would have thought?" she asked.

“I am amazed how the snake managed to get into the car. It probably made its way inside the car through the hood or maybe through the muffler. In any case I will surely have a quick look around my car from now on,” Karen Smith, 22, of Los Angeles, California told YourJewishNews.com after learning about the snake.Mobile video not loading? New York public school goes all vegetarian

All vegetarian school menu
By: Moses Gold

(Scroll down for video) New York parents will now have to adjust what dinner they prepare for their kids as schools are beginning to go all vegetarian.

A public school in the city of New York, has adopted an all-vegetarian menu, serving children wrapped chili, tofu and vegetables.

Public School 244 is the first public school in the city to go all-vegetarian. The animal protection group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said that the school could be the first public school in the nation to go all vegetarian.
Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott said he is proud of the school.

The Queens school has 400 students from pre-kindergarten through third grade. They wanted to offer healthy food choices and began serving a vegetarian meal three times a week and then increased to four times a week. Recently, it went all vegetarian.

Principal Robert Groff said Tuesday that kids gravitated toward vegetable offerings, such as black beans and cheddar quesadillas served with salsa and roasted potatoes.

“I believe that the school is going way over the top by serving only vegetarian. The school should rather give the children a choice. Some of these poor children will come home at night and eat everything in their parent’s fridge or raid the local McDonald’s on their way home,” Jackie James, 23, of Queens, New York told YourJewishNews.com after learning about the all vegetarian menu at the public school.

However, not everyone agreed with James.

“It is wonderful to teach our children not to hurt animals just because we want to eat them. Who are we to kill animals? It is very cruel. I think all schools should go all vegetarian,” Roland Harris, 43, of Bronx, New York told YourJewishNews.com.Mobile video not loading? Click here to view
