|Train explodes in Maryland|
(Scroll down for video) A train traveling in Maryland derailed and exploded in a huge ball of fire, according to video uploaded to the internet.
Mobile phone video showed the terrible moment a huge explosion destroyed the train, shaking homes within a half mile away and destroying nearby buildings.
The video, which was shot by a bystander, showed the terrible explosion after the freight train derailed in a suburb of Baltimore.
As the fire roared around the wreckage of the derailed train, a man was heard saying: "it's getting too hot, so whatever it is, is going to explode."
Seconds later, the person shooting the video was thrown down by the force of the explosion. The sounds of screams and screeching tires can be heard, as people who were watching the show desperately fled from the scene.
CSX Transportation, a freight transport company which operated the train, said in a statement that one of the derailed cars contained sodium chlorate, which is classified by the U.S. Department of Transportation, as a hazardous material.
Despite the magnitude of the derailment and subsequent explosion, only one person was injured in the accident. It is believed that the injured person was the driver of a truck who collided with the train. The truck driver is believed to have caused the train derailment as well.
