(Scroll down for video) A female television host decided to wear tampon earrings live on air in order to protest an abortion law, according to video uploaded to the internet.
On her program Sunday morning, MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry drew attention to abortion regulations recently passed in Texas, with a pair of earrings made of tampons.
In a second special session of the Texas legislature, after a successful filibuster by state Senator Wendy Davis, who blocked the bill in the first special session, security dispersed demonstrators and prohibited posing tampons and maxi-pads for fear that the feminine hygiene products would be thrown at legislators is they pass the controversial bill.
The Texas Department of Public Safety, or DPS, inspected all bags and reportedly confiscated all papers, including magazines, receipts, glitter and confetti, as well as feminine hygiene products.
"My producer, Lorena, made me some tampon earrings last week," Harris-Perry said as she put on the jewelry. "Just in case the seizure ever happens again ladies, you can bring in your tampons as earrings," she said.
