On her program Sunday morning, MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry drew attention to abortion regulations recently passed in Texas, with a pair of earrings made of tampons.

In a second special session of the Texas legislature, after a successful filibuster by state Senator Wendy Davis, who blocked the bill in the first special session, security dispersed demonstrators and prohibited posing tampons and maxi-pads for fear that the feminine hygiene products would be thrown at legislators is they pass the controversial bill.

"My producer, Lorena, made me some tampon earrings last week," Harris-Perry said as she put on the jewelry. "Just in case the seizure ever happens again ladies, you can bring in your tampons as earrings," she said.

(Scroll down for video) A man told police that he shot his father-in-law in the head because he was disrespected, according to court proceedings in Utah.

Charles Richard Jennings Jr. allegedly had a motive when he entered the St. James the Just Catholic Church, shooting his father-in-law in the head: Respect.

On Monday, Assistant Weber County Attorney Dean Saunders told the second District Judge Michael Lyons that Jennings told authorities he shot and wounded 66-year-old James Evans because "he felt disrespected."

Lyons then asked Saunders to keep Jennings in the Weber County Jail without bail because Jennings was a danger to the community and he may try to find Evans, who survived the shooting, and "complete the act."

Defense attorney Michael Bouwhuis opposed the no bail request.
The judge granted the prosecution request and ordered the man held without bail.

Jennings allegedly entered the Catholic Church, located at 495 North Harrison Boulevard, where he pulled out a gun and fired a shot that hit Evans’ right ear and exited through his cheek.

Evans suffered brain damage in the shooting, and his jaw had to be rebuilt.
Jennings is charged with one count of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of aggravated burglary, all first-degree felonies, along with the possession or use of firearms by a restricted person, also a felony.

After the shooting, Jennings ran out of the church and allegedly stole a truck from a stranger at gunpoint. He was captured several hours later walking down Interstate 84 in Box Elder County after the truck ran out of gas when he apparently tried to flee to Idaho.

The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania man thought he was having sex with a prostitute and allegedly grew enraged after he learned that she was actually a man.

Charles Sargent, 43, was so angry when he found out that he was deceived that he killed the prostitute and dumped the body parts in a vacant lot.
His girlfriend called police after Sargent allegedly confessed to the murder when she came home unexpectedly to find him dragging what looked like a body wrapped in sheets.

"If you say anything this is going to be you next, you and your children," he allegedly warned his girlfriend.
Despite the threats, the woman alerted the police. Sargent was arrested. Sargent admitted to the killing, authorities said.

The body parts of the prostitute were discovered in a vacant lot in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood in Philadelphia.
"We have an individual in custody. It was he who told us where we could find the body," Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey said.

A married father of two, and his friend were arrested after raping a 16-year-old girl and then tossing her off the roof top when they were done with her.

It all began when the married man, Anwar Desouza, 24, of Brooklyn New York, connected with the teen through Backpage.com.

The girl arrived to his apartment, which he shares with his wife and two young sons, on Sunday at 3:00 am.
As they were going up to the roof, the pair ran into Antonio Owensford, 26, who joined them, according to reports.
The teenager was allegedly offered $100, but when the men told her that they will not be using condoms, she refused and she wanted to back out of the deal.

The men began to argue with her. Owensford and Desouza suddenly attacked the teenager and began choking and raping her, according to police.
Owensford then allegedly threw the girl over the ledge of the building and she landed in the backyard.

Emergency workers were called to the scene and rushed the injured teen to the hospital, where doctors treated fractures in her arm and leg.
Detectives found Desouza’s phone number in the phone of the teenager. He was arrested shortly thereafter. He was booked on a number of charges including rape, assault and strangulation. He is being held on $250,000 bail.

His friend, Antonio Owensford, of Brooklyn, who is accused of pushing the teen off the roof, claims “everything was consensual,” according to his attorney.
Seems like the judge did not believe that throwing the teen of the rooftop was consensual, as he is being held without bail on 20 criminal charges including attempted murder, predatory sexual assault, strangulation and rape.

By: Shifra Unger

A Florida man was arrested for treating people out of a cramped laundry room, despite not having a license.

The Boca Raton resident, Ubaldo Bittencourt, 62, was arrested and charged with a felony charge of practicing without a license.

Florida records show that Bittencourt has never been licensed to practice dentistry in the state. According to the arrest report, Bittencourt was running a dental office hidden in the laundry room of his Boca Raton bungalow.

Deputies said that Bittencourt had about 6000 patients and used the money he made from his job to build a mansion in his native country Brazil, where he is licensed to be a dentist.

In fact, Bittencourt mostly provided dental care for fellow Brazilians who speak Portuguese. Bittencourt was very cautious not to attract outside attention to his illegal practice.
He did not answer his phone, instead people had to leave a message and he would return voicemails within 24 hours, the police report said.

An undercover sheriff called Bittencourt , and left a message in Portuguese. Bittencourt returned the officer’s call and identified himself as Dr. Ubaldo. The undercover officer made an appointment with the unlicensed dentist.

The officer had a recording device with him at the time of the appointment. The officer was taken to the laundry room where there was an examination chair, dental equipment including an X-ray machine, dental tools and dental molds.

"These items were being stored and used by Bittencourt, with no known radiation safety protocol and no instrument sterilization equipment," according to the arrest report.

Bittencourt did an oral examination on the undercover officer, putting his fingers in the officers mouth without gloves.
The unlicensed dentist told the officer that he can do a dental bridge at the cost of $2,500, but he only accepts cash as payment.

Bittencourt was arrested and taken to the Palm Beach County Jail and was later released after posting $3,000 bail.

By: Sarah Weiss

Several European supermarkets have announced this week that they stopped selling Israeli settlement products after a recent E.U. directive ordering its member states to stop doing business with Israeli settlement entities.

Following the announcement of the European Union at least two large retail chains in the Netherlands have stopped selling goods produced in Israeli settlements. A third chain reassured its customers that the origin of its products are not from Israel's settlements.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry said: "This boycott is tainted with hypocrisy and prejudice, and only worsens the problem it seeks to solve."

The two chains, which announced that they will not be selling products from the settlements, are Aldi and Hoogvlit. The chains are particularly popular in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht. The third chain that labels Israeli products is Jambo.

After questioning several supermarkets executives in the Netherlands, Hoogvlit and Aldi confirmed their ban. Aldi even demanded their suppliers not to carry products of the Israeli settlements. An Aldi spokesperson said she is not interested that Israel’s products "should be part of the public discourse in any way."

An investigation also revealed that recently, Jambo is requiring its suppliers to promise in writing that the goods labeled as Made In Israel really come from the "State of Israel" and not the settlements. Jambo said it decided to take this unusual step due to the elevation of the topic in the public debate. "Our clients deserve accurate information," Jambo said.

Fox retail location
By: John Roberts

An Israeli clothing retailer announced today that it will be opening its first ever branch location in the Palestinian controlled West Bank.

The Israeli Fashion brand, Fox, is opening its first franchise in a mall in the Palestinian city of Ramallah, a move that is already facing strong opposition from Palestinian activists.

Recently, a poster was hung in one of the shopping centers in the Palestinian city, announcing that the clothing retailer will soon open a branch there. While many Palestinians have expressed their support for the store, the decision has unleashed a storm on social networking websites among Palestinian activists, who vehemently oppose any normalization of relations with Israel or Israeli companies.

One of the activists, who were protesting the measure, expressed dissatisfaction with the economic cooperation with Israel. Another attacked the Palestinian Authority led by the Fatah Party, saying that "Fatah still underestimated the suffering of the residents of the West Bank. Fatah does everything to win the confidence of Israel and seeks to cooperate with it, despite the fact that they are the enemy of the Palestinian people."

Fox Group operates a total of 135 stores in Israel and 245 stores overseas. Among other places, the company operates throughout Europe, and Southeast Asia.

Ramallah is home to the headquarters of the Palestinian Authority and has become a thriving metropolitan area in recent years.
Fox, is partly owned by Abraham Fox, a religious Jew. Retail shops are closed on the Jewish Sabbath, unlike many other major chains that keep some stores open on Shabbat.

(Scroll down for video) Workers at a McDonald’s walked off the job after their co-worker collapsed due to lack of air condition, according to emergency workers in New York.

The incident happened on Friday. The workers complained that they were forced to work without air conditioning in the midst of record high temperatures. A worker collapsed from the heat.

Luisa Villa, an employee who participated in the strike on Friday, said that the air conditioner in the kitchen of the restaurant has been broken for the past nine years. The crew member that collapsed, Esheliz Mendez, had complained about the broken air conditioner on numerous occasions, she added. A repair was made last year after another employee collapsed, but the air conditioner broke again within a week.

"Store owners make fun of us, they think we're animals," a worker complained. "We are not animals. We are people. We do not want to die and we can certainly die from the heat, you know," the worker added.
The McDonald’s based in Washington Heights, is an independently owned franchise operated by Dominga De Jesus, according to the website of the company. Seventy people work there.

Villa said she and her co-workers went on strike simply because they want the air conditioner to be fixed. Shortly after the strike took place, the owners brought in temporary workers so the restaurant could continue operating. Villa said she hopes that owners will not retaliate against workers because of the protest.

Aksal was arrested in August 2012 when he arrived on a flight from Phoenix, Arizona, to Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. According to the statement, Aksal was sitting in the middle seat in a row of three seats, while the victim was sitting next to him in the window seat.

The incident took place about an hour before landing, when another passenger Aksal in the seat of the victim, his body against the victim. The passenger also saw his left hand under the woman’s sweater that was draped over her.

The victim awoke to find Aksal’s hands underneath her shirt and shorts, and fought him off, prosecutors said in a statement.
Both the passenger and the victim immediately went to the back of the plane to report what happened to the flight attendants.
The federal government has exclusive jurisdiction over all sexual abuse cases that occur on flights in the United States, as such events are outside the jurisdiction of any State.

Aksal now faces a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.
"Aksal is very disappointed," Aksal's attorney, Robert J. Degroot, said. "I felt that prosecutors failed to provide evidence needed for a conviction. He has faith in the U.S. system and feels that he will ultimately be vindicated," the attorney also said.

Aksal is scheduled to be sentenced in court later this year.

Nashville Police said that William Cantrell, 28, was arrested this week for allegedly stealing a box of human ashes from a resident in Tennessee. Relatives believe Cantrell thought that the ashes were cocaine.

"Cantrell thought it was drugs, he thought he had found a box of cocaine," Cantrell's grandmother, Wanda Allen, said.
Cantrell was held on a charge of aggravated robbery.

According to a police affidavit, Cantrell also stole an Xbox from his neighbor, Steven Medley, along with the small box, and fled to his grandmother's house in Nashville. His grandmother thought he was drunk during the incident. The ashes belonged to Medley's mother.

"They just made him sound like a bad, bad person. They told people that he broke into the house and stole the ashes of this woman. I'm not saying he is not guilty, but he did not know what he was stealing," his mother, Kathy said.

The good news is that Cantrell's grandmother believes that he did not inhale the ashes.

"Above the ashes, there was had a piece of white paper stuck on it with the date of birth, date of death, the name and the funeral home of the deceased," she said.

(Scroll down for video) A girl was arrested and charged with possession of child porn related charges after she took photos of her friends having sex, according to police reports in Florida.

Pasco County Police said that a 15-year-old girl was arrested Monday afternoon for shooting and possessing a photo of another teenage girl having oral sex with a teenage boy.
She was charged with one count of aggravated child pornography.

"The two girls were friends, and one of them was dating the guy," Detective William Lindsey said. "They posed for the photo and remained friends for several months," he said.

At one point, the girls had a falling out. The girl, who took the picture, began to show the photo to her classmates and digitally distributed the child porn, police said.

"More and more teens are sending photos of themselves and each other in provocative poses,” Officer Melanie Snow said.. "We want children and parents to know that it is a felony. It's not just a silly thing that will not have a long-term effect on your life," she said.

One of the companions of the girl, 18, is suspected of posting the pornographic image to Twitter. Her mother will not turn him so the Sheriff's Office will present the case to the State Attorney to issue an arrest warrant, authorities said.

A complaint affidavit filed by the Office of the Pasco County Sheriff stated that five witnesses told a deputy that they were shown "child pornography by the defendant."

An employee of Wiregrass Ranch High School in Wesley Chapel saw the image of "two young kids engaged in oral sex" and seized the girl's phone.

The girl turned 15-years-old last month. She was arrested at her home in Land O' Lakes.
"Possession of child pornography is an offense no matter how old you are," Lindsey said. "If she had taken a picture of herself in a sexual poser, she would also be charged with child pornography," Lindsey also said.

(Scroll down for video) Two boys were arrested and charged with murder related charges after they killed a baby boy in his baby stroller while being pushed by his mother, according to police reports in Georgia.

Georgia Police said that two monsters shot and killed a helpless baby in vain as he sat in his stroller.
The meaningless execution came seconds after the murderers, who are teenagers, shot and wounded the baby’s terrified mother in a botched robbery.

"You want me to shoot your baby?" Said one of them, before ending the life of the 13-month-old child, police said.
Sherry West, the mother of little Antonio Santiago, despite the fact that she was wounded, gave police a detailed description of the adolescents, 17, and 14-years-old, who were arrested on Friday.

West also gave a harrowing account of what supposedly happened when the older child pointing a gun at her.
"I said, 'No, do not kill my baby!’" West said.

“They killed him anyway,” she said.
West, who lost her 18-year-old son to senseless violence five years ago, was left to bury another child.

De'Marquis Elkins, 17, and his 14-year-old accomplice were caught after heavily armed police in Brunswick, Georgia, went door to door looking for them.

Elkins was charged as an adult of first-degree murder, Police Chief Tobe Green said.
The younger boy, who was not identified because he is a minor, was also charged with first-degree murder, Green said.
The tragedy in the small southern town began to unfold on Thursday, said West, when she took her son out for a walk in the normally quiet and leafy suburb of Brunswick.

"He asked me for money and I said I do not have," she said.
To show he was serious, West said, Elkins fired a shot at the ground.
Not seeing a cap bullet, West said, she thought the gun was fake.

Then, in quick succession, Elkins fired a shot that grazed her left ear and one in her left leg, just above the knee, West told police.
West said it all happened very fast. "I did not know I was hurt," she said.
Then she said: "the boy proceeded to go around the stroller and shot my baby in the face."

West was treated for a gunshot wound at a local hospital and later released.
She said her broken heart will take much longer to repair.
Antonio was a beautiful baby, the weeping mother said.

New York Police officer busted for stealing sexy pictures from woman’s mobile phone

Pamela Held
By: John Roberts

A New York Police Department police officer is in trouble after he was caught in possession of sexy pictures belonging to a blond woman, according to a report by the New York Daily News.

The woman of Long Island, New York said that police took her iPhone and that one of them stole sexually explicit photos and videos intended only for the eyes of her boyfriend.

Pamela Held, 27, of Deer Park, is about to sue the city and police department, accusing a police officer of invading her privacy by forwarding provocative images of her iPhone. Held’s erotic images were sent to a personal cell phone that her lawyer said belongs to officer Sean Christian.

"It makes me sick" Held said. "I dread to think what he has done with them," she added.
Police sources confirmed that Christian, 41, assigned to the 104 Precinct police station in Ridgewood, Queens, is the subject of an internal affairs investigation stemming from the complaint of Held.

Held’s nightmare unfolded one night, when five police officers pulled her over in Ridgewood, since she had no inspection sticker. Cops found prescription drugs in the car, so officers, including Christian, took Held and others to the police station.

When police began grilling her about her whereabouts that night, Held said she was visiting a friend and had text messages to prove it. She gave officers her security code to unlock her phone and showed them the messages. Police then left the room with the phone while she was charged with minor drug charges.

"I knew they had my phone and I was freaking out" Held said. "I had a bad feeling about this," she also said.
She was held for nearly three hours at the police station before they returned the phone and gave her a desk appearance ticket. Held said Christian followed her to the car.
"He told me I am a beautiful girl and I have to stop hanging out with the wrong crowd," Held said.

She left and then stopped to check her phone.
"I saw this number and all my images and videos attached to it," Held said.
There were 20 nude photos and 5 sexy videos of her that had been forwarded to a phone number. Fearing the worst, she contacted attorney Richard Soleymanzadeh, whose private investigator traced the number to Christian.
