Ohio registered sex offender arrested for kidnapping and killing 3 women

(Scroll down for video) Chilling details emerging from the latest missing-woman's cases led to soul-searching in Cleveland, Ohio.

On Monday, a registered sex offender was charged with murder and kidnapping of three women.

Their bodies were found in plastic trash bags in a run-down neighborhood. This is the third major case in four years of multiple killings to haunt the Rust Belt metropolis.

Dennis Eckert, a political and urban-policy consultant and former Cleveland-area congressman, said: "I do think we have to ask ourselves as a community the larger question: ‘Why here, and what can we do to better understand the conditions that fostered this savage behavior?’"

Civic leaders say that the general mistrust of police and the disintegration of neighborhoods make it very easy for predators to kill without raising suspicions. Ohio Gov. John Kasich said he also believes the disintegration of neighborhoods contributed to the perpetrators being able to commit the crimes undetected.

Cleveland, formerly a robust steel town, has been struggling for decades due to the decline of manufacturing since the 1970s. On Sunday, volunteers scoured forty houses, looking for any additional victims of Michael Madison, the man charged in the latest slayings.

The bodies were discovered after a foul odor was reported by a neighbor. The 35-year-old Madison has already served four years in prison for an attempted rape and a drug offense. Madison is being held on $6 million bail and he did not enter a plea.

"Maybe after all this, maybe this will bring a change to East Cleveland," Vanessa Jones said Sunday as she watched investigators search a vacant lot near where the bodies were found. "Hopefully. Pray for that," she added.

Amanda Bynes
By: Angelica Harrison

(Scroll down for video) Amanda Bynes surely has an interesting off-screen life. She has been involved in many cases throughout this year. Though, her latest run-in with police has landed her in a hospital.

The onetime child star, has been hospitalized for psychiatric evaluation after initiating a fire in a Los Angeles suburb.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that she “was involved in a disturbance in a residential area.” This area is about an hour outside of Los Angeles. She was placed under a psychiatric hold which can last up to seventy-two hours.

“Deputies nearby responded and held her on 5150 welfare and institution code (involuntary psychiatric hold),” said Capt. Don Aguilar. The Ventura County Fire Department responded to a 911 call at 8:38 pm on Monday, and Amanda was taken into custody after she started a fire in an elderly woman’s driveway.

She was found carrying a small red gas tank. When questioned about her motive, her answers were so far out in the left field that the deputies decided to put her in a hospital on a 5150. The area where she allegedly started a fire was not too far from where she had been previously accused of trespassing.

As of now, no charges have been filed against the 27-year-old actress. For Bynes, this wasn’t her first time undergoing psychiatric evaluation. On May 23, she was taken to Roosevelt Hospital to undergo mental evaluation after being arrested for allegedly throwing a bong outside of the window of her 36th floor apartment in NYC.

The former Nickelodeon star is due in court on August 26 to face charges of reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence and marijuana possession stemming from her May arrest.

Kosher Taco Truck aims to reach out to long lost Hispanic Jews

(Scroll down for video) A kosher truck selling tacos is trying to reach out to those long-lost Jews from the Spanish Inquisition era, according to a report by ABC in Texas.

An El Paso artist hopes to highlight the history of crypto-Jews in the Southwest of the United States through his kosher taco truck.

About six years ago, the artist, Peter Svarzbein, began photographing crypto-Jews, who are Hispanics or Latinos of Jewish descent. Thousands of Jews in Spain had to keep their faith in secret after the Spanish Inquisition.

Svarzbein wants to highlight the stories of Jewish families through his taco truck that is serving food at Congregation B'nai Zion and at Hope and Anchor on the weekends.

On Monday, the truck stood in downtown El Paso, on the corner of Mills and Mesa. Besides serving tacos, the stories of the crypto-Jews are projected onto the walls.
Many crypto-Jews did not discover their Jewish heritage until later generations.

"It was a family secret. I grew up on the south side, the Segundo Barrio, where we fear the unknown," John Garcia, a former crypto-Jew, who converted to Judaism after discovering his Jewish ancestry, said.
Garcia said he learned that his Jewish ancestors were burned at the stake near Monterrey, Mexico, practicing their faith.

(Scroll down for video) In a record-breaking event, more than 100 children immigrated to Israel from the United States along with former captive Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.

El Al flight LY3004 landed this morning at Ben Gurion Airport with 231 new Israeli citizens on board, including the record number of children.

Even before they took off, passengers knew not to expect too much sleep because nearly fifty percent of the occupants were children, a new record for a Nefesh B'Nefesh “aliyah” flight. The Jewish Agency for Israel was also involved in preparing the flight.

The 106 young immigrants are joining a whopping 989 children, who will make “aliyah” throughout 2013 with Nefesh B'Nefesh in cooperation with the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption, the Jewish Agency for Israel and the Jewish National Fund. The 989 youth immigrants are an increase of twenty percent compared with 822 children, who made “aliyah” in 2012.

In anticipation of the arrival, Nefesh B'Nefesh made arrangements to help the parents of the children. They also helped keep the children occupied during the long flight and throughout the arrival ceremony. Among the activities, the children received “aliyah” coloring books, games and custom-made shirts.

Former captive Israeli soldier, Gilad Shalit, also joined the flight as a show of support and appreciation to the thousands of Israeli immigrants from the U.S., who are fulfilling their dream of returning to Israel.

Hezbollah continues to suffer heavy losses in Syrian civil war

(Scroll down for video) The Lebanese terror organization, Hezbollah, continues to suffer severe losses while fighting in Syria’s civil war, according to a report by the Tazpit News Agency.

The number of losses Hezbollah has suffered during its involvement in the Syrian civil war is immense, especially during the final battle for Al-Qusayr, this according to a report released by The Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center(ITIC).

The assessment of the ITIC is that Hezbollah's involvement in the Syrian civil war has cost the terror organization almost 180 deaths and several hundred wounded. This assessment is based on ITIC having located 82 names of operatives recently killed, in addition to 96 names previously found. The numbers continue to rise as the fighting ensues.

Most of the Hezbollah operatives killed (120) met their deaths during the campaign for Al-Qusayr, the majority of them (114) in the final battle that began on May 19, 2013, and ended on June 5, 2013, with the takeover of the city by Assad's forces and the Hezbollah. Several dozen Hezbollah operatives were killed defending the Shi'ite holy site of the grave of Al-Set Zaynab and others in other battle sites.

In addition, ITIC have names of several other Hezbollah operatives who were killed but without data about the location or circumstances of their deaths, only short Hezbollah announcements that they were killed while engaged in carrying out the duty of jihad in Syria. Some of the operatives may have been killed in the battles in the Aleppo region where there is Hezbollah involvement, although its role is secondary.

The ITIC assess that the heavy losses are because Hezbollah was a main combatant in the fighting, its operatives were fighting offensively in an unfamiliar urban setting, and the rebels apparently showed strong resistance, especially fighters from the Al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Nusra Front which fought alongside the rebels who, according to media reports, suffered heavy losses as well.

The large number of losses has fueled criticism of Hezbollah inside Lebanon and among the Lebanese Shi'ites, although the level of criticism is apparently still tolerable as far as Hezbollah is concerned and does not keep the organization from being further drawn into the Syrian civil war. However, in the ITIC's assessment, the significant number of losses in Al-Qusayr may influence the way Hezbollah supports the Syrian army in the pending campaign to take over the Aleppo area.

A senior IDF intelligence officer told Tazpit News Agency that he estimates that Hezbollah's casualties are higher 250 dead. According to some reports, Khader Nassrallah, brother of Hezbollah head Hasan Nassrallah, was killed in the fighting. He points out that this attests to the significance that Nassrallah has placed on the fighting in Syria.

As a result of Hezbollah's involvement in Syria the fighting has spread into Lebanon, the most significant event occurring on July 9th , when a car bomb exploded in the middle of the Hezbollah controlled Dahyah neighborhood in Beirut. These events may develop into a full-scale civil war. He assessed that in the long term, Hezbollah will suffer the consequences of its involvement in Syria, especially losing financial support which is essential for its survival.

For this reason they have joined Assad, hoping for further financing by his regime, as well as weapons and logistic support. As for Israel, the source believes there is no real implication for Israel's security, as the Hezbollah will be able to recover its losses over a period of a few years and will be able to train new men to replace its casualties. What needs to be monitored is Hezbollah's political, financial and military relations with its Arab and Muslim counterparts, and with them they may find their demise.

4 suspected vampires found buried in Poland

The vampire grave in Poland
By: Sarah Weiss

(Scroll down for video) Archeologists found four vampires buried in a grave, Polish archaeologists said in a statement.
However, officials did not indicate whether garlic or a crucifix were found in the grave.

Their remains were found with the head placed between their legs. A popular tradition holds that this burial arrangement would ensure that a possible bloodsucker could not find the head and bring it back to life.

Although an archaeologist involved in the discovery said that it is very difficult to say when these burials took place due to lack of jewelry or other objects that could be dated, it probably occurred long before 1914, the date of the last vampire burial recorded in the country.

The skeletons were found at a construction site near Gliwice, in southern Poland, and tests are being conducted on the remains.
Officials also said that there were other ways of dealing with suspected vampires, such as using metal stakes to secure the body to the ground. Archaeologists in Bulgaria made such a vampire discovery last year.

This was not the first time that a man dressed like a superhero was busted. As we reported earlier, parents will have a lot of explaining to do when their kids will ask: “Why is Spider-Man in handcuffs?”

Police are hunting for a gone bad Spider-Man after the masked web-slinger snatched a paper bag filled with $6,000 in cash and a credit card of an employee at Starlines Tour Bus company.

So far, no arrests have been made.

Other local superheroes, including Superman, Batman and Catwoman, have said that they are helping police in their search of finding the criminal Spider-Man.

“People who dress up as children’s superheros should act like one. Our kids look up to these characters as role models. The thief should have just dressed up as one of the bad characters,” Mozell Huang, 38, of Los Angeles, California told YourJewishNews.com after learning about the incident.

Starline Tours is the oldest and largest tour company in Los Angeles, according to its website. It offers tours of Hollywood, the city of Los Angeles, and visits to homes of celebrities.
