|Swastika drawn on cat|
(Scroll down for video) Police are looking to arrest and charge a suspect with animal cruelty related charges after a cat was stolen and a swastika was drawn on its back, according to police reports in New Zealand.
Christchurch Police said that a cat belonging to a local couple has been kidnapped, shaved and a swastika drawn on its back, leaving the cat owners puzzled.
Jess McGiffin said she does not believe the attack was racially motivated as her husband, James, is Filipino. She believes it is the work of mischievous teenagers.
"It has obviously just happened,'' McGiffin said. “It's so horrible. I cannot believe it,” she said.
The cat, one-year-old Turbo, was attacked yesterday, but seemed unfazed.
His whiskers had been cut and the top of its head had a bald patch on the back.
"I honestly do not know who was behind it. I've lived here most of my life and I've been in this house for three years. There has not been anything like this, ever,'' she said.
The attack has been reported to the police and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
