(Scroll down for video) A famous Arab Israeli singer was gunned down on his way home from a wedding, according to police reports.
The singer was shot dead by unknown suspects on Tuesday night, while returning from a wedding at which he had performed.
Shafiq Kabha, 53, was shot dead as he returned to his home in Kfar Qara, southeast of Haifa. Two men on a motorcycle drove up to him and shot him at close range.
Kabha was rushed by ambulance to a hospital, but succumbed to his injuries, leaving his family, friends and fans to mourn the loss.
“Shafiq was a man of sterling qualities," his sister Maria, who managed her brother's band, said. "We all loved and respected him,” she said.
His sister was shocked by the shooting and said that she doesn't know who would want to hurt her brother as he had no enemies.
Kabha had a good reputation as a singer of classical Arabic music. He performed in Israel and abroad. Kabha has done concerts in many Middle Eastern countries, especially in Jordan.
Kabha worked as a singer for the past 30 years.
His sister said that she would not seek revenge against her brother’s killer, but rather put her faith in the police investigation and divine punishment.
"The police will do their job. We will leave the matter to God," she added.
