(Scroll down for video) Hundreds of Jewish families fled from their homes after large brush fires destroyed many houses, according to fire officials in Australia.

Huge wildfires in Australia have forced many families to evacuate.

About 30 fires are still raging, and the fires have already burned 300,000 hectares of forest. Two hundred homes were also destroyed.

"All my belongings were burned. It is difficult and emotionally traumatic," David Lake, whose home in the Blue Mountains, not far from Sydney, was destroyed.

He managed to save a kiddush cup, which was completely black but is still usable.

"Is this not wonderful?" He said, adding that the mezuzah on the front door was also spared.

Jewish groups and volunteers are helping the victims of the fires.

"We are coordinating and helping relief efforts and calling on all members of the community to participate, either as a volunteer or donate," Pinchus Feldman, the chief rabbi of Chabad in Sydney, said.

(Scroll down for video) Racist police officers detained a young black man after he bought an expensive belt.

Police were called to a store in New York, after a black teen bought a designer black belt for $320.

The black college student, who had saved money from his part-time job to purchase a designer belt from a Barneys department store, was suspected of being a thief after the store employee thought he was too young to have that kind of money for a belt.

Police detained Trayon Christian, 19, after it was believed that "he could not afford to make such an expensive purchase," according to a lawsuit filed by Christian.

Christian filed the lawsuit on Tuesday, against the Madison Avenue store and the New York Police Department, who wrongly accused him of fraud.

Christian, who lives with his mother in Queens, decided to spend his money on a $320 belt by designer Salvatore Ferragamo, after seeing rapper Juelz Santana using the accessory.

However, once he had paid for the belt and left the Barneys department store, the fashion loving teenagers was grabbed by an undercover officer on the street.

According to the civil rights lawsuit, the officer asked the 19-year-old a "how a young black man like himself could afford to buy such an expensive belt.”

Attorney Michael Palillo, who is representing Christian, said that his client was never in trouble with the law. “His only crime was being a young black guy buying a $300 belt,” Palillo said.

Officers took the teen, who is an engineering freshman at the New York City College of Technology, to a local police station. Christian showed investigators his identification, his debit card and the store receipt.

Officials still refused to believe that the money was not stolen. Finally, police contacted Chase Bank, which verified that the debit card belonged to Christian.

The student said he will never buy anything at Barneys again. He also returned the belt the store for refund. “I brought the belt back to Barneys a few days later and returned it. I got my money back. I’m not shopping there again. They are cruel. They are racist,” Christian said.

A teenager was arrested on Tuesday, and charged in the death of a five-year-old child in Texas.

The boy accidentally fired the weapon which belonged to the teenager while she was napping, authorities said.

Melissa Ann Ringhardt, 19, of Vidor, who lives with the child's family, was babysitting at the time of the incident. She left her .40-caliber semiautomatic pistol on a coffee table.

Ringhardt went to take a nap while the 5-year-old and a 6-month-old baby, were in her care. When she awoke, she did not immediately find the boy identified as John Read.

She finally discovered him in the living room dead from a gunshot wound. The 6-month-old was not injured.
Ringhardt told investigators that she had the gun because she was afraid of being home alone.

"People have the right to bear arms, and with that comes great responsibility," Orange County sheriff's Chief Deputy Clint Hodgkinson said. "If someone puts a gun in a place where a child is able to get the weapon, they have committed a crime," he said.

Ringhardt was arrested and charge of abandoning/endangering a child.
Her bond was set at $250,000.

Sexy female model finds success as male model

Elliott Sailors before and after
By: Debbi Gross

(Scroll down for video) A hot-looking woman turned herself into a handsome male model.

Elliott Sailors, 31, was a blond bombshell, who worked with a famous modeling agency as a female model. Her sexy body adorned billboards worldwide.

She was also a beauty-pageant contestant in Tucson, Arizona.

However, when she had a hard time finding work, she decided to reinvented herself as a male model. She cut off her beautiful long hair for a short haircut.

Sailors now binds her breasts and wears men’s clothing for photo shoots.

"I'm starting a new career. I lost all my old clients as they wanted a female model. I had to get new clients. Men do not need to look as young as possible, so I have plenty of time,” Sailors said.

Sailors confessed that male modeling seemed to be a natural transition for her. "At the beginning of my career, I was frustrated because I thought I seemed too masculine. I have a strong jaw, wide forehead, and huge eyebrows. I thought I looked like a man wearing makeup," she said.

Interestingly enough, Sailors is a married woman. Her husband, Adam Santos-Coy, is supportive of her new career and her new look.

Sailors said that her husband knew that people will look at her differently once she changed to her manly looks, but he did not realize that people would see him so differently.

“Many people think we are a gay couple,” she explained.
Sailors dresses as a man for most of the day because it is easier than to wear makeup or heels.

Man cut off 9-year-old’s hand after his wife made him angry

Cheng Sun, right, the victim and his mother, left

A 9-year-old boy lost his hand after it was cut off with a meat cleaver.

The child’s stepfather not only cut the child’s hand off, but he then threw the hand into boiling water so it could not be reattached.

Cheng Sun, 43, met the child's mother, Xiao Shen, just over a year ago. The couple had been planning to buy an apartment together.

Cheng moved into a rented apartment with Shen and her children, while they searched for a home in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, eastern China.

On that day, the boy's mother was visiting her parents and other relatives to try to borrow the rest of the money they needed to buy their own apartment.

When the woman called Cheng to let him know that there would be a delay in getting the money, Cheng became angry and lashed out at the child.

At first, he hit the child with a stick and then, he grabbed a meat cleaver and chopped of the boy’s hand before throwing it into a pot of boiling water that had been heated to cook a meal.

"I heard the boy screaming, 'Dad, please don’t. Dad, please don’t,’” a neighbor said.
"Even though I heard the boy screaming I did not expect it to be so terrible," the neighbor added.

The stepfather called police and confessed to what he had done. He then took the child and hand to a local hospital. Sadly, the doctors were unable to reattach the hand due to its swelling that happened when it was placed in the boiling water.

This means that the child will now need an artificial arm. The family’s life has turned upside down after the incident.

Cheng has been arrested and is facing a long prison sentence. He also lost his job as a tow truck driver, which means that the child and his mother will no longer have income. Shen will need the money as she is reportedly six months pregnant with Cheng’s twins.

"I always thought he would be a really good dad to me. I liked him. Now, everything is ruined,” the boy told police.
