Tesco products seen with anti-Israeli labels which ask shoppers to boycott Israel

Anti-Israeli label on Tesco product
By: David Ross

Products sold by Tesco, Britain's major supermarket chain, now carry labels asking people to boycott Israel.

The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement has placed yellow stickers on Israeli made products. The sticker reads: “For justice in Palestine – Boycott Israel.”

The Israeli Foreign Ministry said that the “Yellow sticker is reminiscent of the dark days of racial, incitement.”

The color yellow was chosen by Hitler when he forced the Jewish people to wear yellow Stars of David.

A pro-Israeli activist residing in Dublin, Ireland, was shocked this week, when he discovered the anti-Israeli yellow stickers on Israeli made products, which are sold by Tesco.

Among the many items found carrying the yellow boycott sticker was a pack of dates from the Jordan Valley. The label read: "Organic dates, product of West Bank, Israeli Settlement Produce."

Similar stickers were placed on other products in the Tesco supermarket chain.

Tesco is a British chain originally established by Jewish businessman Jack Cohen, the son of Jewish immigrants from Poland. Cohen's grandchildren and great-grandchildren reside in Israel. The chain operates hundreds of supermarkets in Britain and Ireland.

Israel Defense Forces soldiers, who arrived at the scene, began searching the area for the perpetrators.

During the search, additional firebombs were found. No injuries were reported.

Top chefs face off in first ever Israel Defense Forces healthy cooking competition

The delicious dishes prepared by the top chefs
By: Moses Gold

(Scroll down for video) Top chefs in the Israel Defense Forces faced off in the first ever cooking competition, according to a report by the IDF Blog.

On October 29, we marked Health and Fitness Month with our first healthy cooking competition. Senior IDF officer: “The IDF’s main job is to support and provide for its soldiers in combat. My job is to impact the health of these soldiers.”

Nine teams from various IDF units throughout Israel joined together to compete in a healthy cooking competition, aimed at bringing healthy food to soldiers and instilling an all-around healthy lifestyle on IDF bases. Each team consisted of three people – a head chef at an IDF base, an IDF chef in reserves and an IDF soldier currently in his or her regular service.

Captain Yafit Edri, who organized the event, explained the process of the competition and her hope to spread healthy cooking habits to IDF bases. “There are two parts to this competition,” Cpt. Edri said. “The creation of the meal, and how it is delivered to the judges.” When asked on how this competition has changed in recent years, Cpt. Edri said: “We have had an IDF-wide cooking competition for nine years, and this is the first time since its inception that its focus is to factor in healthy ingredients.”

The morning of the competition, after teams were given a variety of ingredients for their use, each team had to create a recipe for an appetizer, an entree and a dessert, all of which had to be permitted by the IDF’s head chef and a professional nutritionist, who assisted each team in ensuring that their recipes matched the health requirements of Israel’s military.

When asked about the competition’s ultimate goal, Cpt. Edri responded: “The IDF’s main job is to support and provide for its soldiers in combat. My job is to impact the health of these soldiers, to impact what a soldier gets on his plate and to ensure that he or she is of the highest health standards.”

Captain Simo Cohen, the IDF’s head chef, served as a mentor to all teams, and was also on the panel of judges – which included notable names from top IDF commanders, such as the commander of the Ba’ad 6 Military School, to former winners of Israel’s popular show, Master Chef. “Every command being represented here is performing at a very high standard,” Cpt. Cohen said.

“I have a feeling that the margin between first, second and third place winners will be very small.” Echoing Cpt. Edri’s sentiments, Cpt. Cohen explained that the purpose of this competition is to bring it back to the field. “The lessons learned in this competition will have no impact if we use healthy ingredients that are not offered in the kitchens of all IDF bases, which is why we use ingredients that every IDF chef in every IDF base has access to year-round.”

The winning team was the Northern Command, led by Major Yaki Malka, head chef at a base in Israel’s north. The winning team’s meals were: Bakala fish on a bed of tahini and lettuce for an appetizer; an entree featuring stuffed chicken breast with a wine and beet sauce on couscous; and, for dessert, carrot cake with glazed apples.

When asked about the day’s events, Maj. Malka’s response was simply: “interesting, demanding, tiring – but we learned a lot.” As head chef, Maj. Malka ensures everyone in his kitchen is working together and satisfied, even spending time together outside of the kitchen. “The workers in my kitchen are very intertwined,” Maj. Malka said. “From Shabbat dinners to vacations, our families spend a lot of time together. We make sure the kitchen is not just a place of work but also a place of warmth.”

As the first of its kind, this competition proved to be an important step forward for IDF soldiers across Israel. Cpt. Edri emphasized that, when IDF bases make healthy food, the result will be healthy soldiers. “As you can see, people are working on this as we speak. It is a long process, but we are headed in the right direction.”

Palestinians caught stealing and destroying Jewish owned olive trees

A destroyed tree
By: Aryeh Savir

Jewish farmers in the Israeli controlled West Bank, continue to suffer from Palestinians, who steal and destroy trees, according to a report by the Tazpit News Agency.

In apparent acts of theft and vandalism commented by Arabs against Israeli owned groves in Judea and Samaria tens of trees have been destroyed and the produce has been stolen.

The latest incident occurred at Kdumim, in Samaria. Late Saturday night (Nov. 2) some 400 kilos of olive produce were stolen from a grove owned by the community. This is the eighth time that the grove has been targeted by thieves in the past weeks. The burglars use the same pattern and the same entry point every time.

In this incident the security cameras identified the infiltration, but security forces arriving on the scene were too late. Several trees were damaged during the theft. The police have so far been unable to prevent these recurring attacks. Baruch, one of the farmers, told Tazpit his heart aches every time he encounters the destruction and loss.

Last Thursday (Oct. 31) farmers from Shiloh were dismayed to find tens of trees in their fields broken, and the olive produce stolen. The damage is estimated at tens of thousands of NIS. Yair Eldar, the grove manager, told Tazpit News Agency of what he encountered: "I was able to see the mass destruction from the road. I found large sheets used for the collection of the stolen produce. I then walked through the grove and found dozens of the trees broken and basically ruined. The damage is immense."

The IDF arrived on the scene in this incident as well, but was unable to apprehend anyone in connection with these acts of vandalism.

On Oct. 23rd, accompanied by radical left-wing anarchists, Arabs entered a Jewish owned grove in Gush Etzion. They tore down fences and uprooted the irrigation system. They further attacked the Jewish farmers, wounding five, while throwing stones at passing cars. The IDF is now prohibiting any entry into the field, claiming that the ownership of the field is under legally contention. The field has been tended by Israeli farmers for the past thirteen years.

Such acts of destruction have become by now a prevalent phenomenon during this sensitive time of year. The Jewish farmers remain defenseless in many cases, losing overnight a lifetime investment of resources and effort.

Bride chooses horse as bridesmaid

A woman chose a horse as her bridesmaid.

With all the drama that comes along with coordinating the bridesmaids and dresses, this bride might just be on to something with her choice of having her horse as her bridesmaid.

Alex Wells, 28, went the unconventional route when choosing her bridal party for the wedding in Coddington, Nottinghamshire.

Wells chose her friend, Lianna Bourne, 28, and her beloved 17-year-old horse named Toffee, as her two bridesmaids.

Bourne wore a purple dress and the horse wore a purple bridle to match Bourne’s dress.

The horse was a big part of the wedding. The bride admits that she asked the horse for permission to get married.

“Toffee is part of the family and is very important for me, so I asked her permission to get married," Wells said. Toffee has been with the family for the past 13 years.

The groom, Graham Sales, 29, has no doubt about where he stands in the marriage. He knows that he will have to share his wife with the horse.

"Alex goes to see Toffee twice a day and spends weekends with her, so I'm always competing with it for attention," Sales said.

However, at the wedding ceremony, the husband got his wife’s full attention, as the horse was not allowed inside the church.

It waited outside the All Saints Church in Coddington, while the bride and groom exchanged their vows.

When the bride and groom were done, they posed for pictures, which included the horse.

Would you marry a woman if you had to fight with a horse over your wife's attention?

By: Shifra Unger

A doctor lost half of his tongue after he stuck his tongue into a patient's mouth.

The doctor, Kenneth Seen, 52, of Spencer, West Virginia, was accused of putting his tongue into the mouth of an elderly patient during an examination.

In turn, the elderly man, who was unable to move, bit the doctor’s tongue so hard that half of the doctor’s tongue came off.

The doctor was fired from the hospital after the incident.

According to State Police, the patient bit off a "significant part" of the doctor’s tongue.

Dr. Seen originally blamed the patient. He claimed that the patient, a 77-year-old man with dementia and Parkinson's disease, grabbed his tongue and forced the incident, which took place at the Roane General Hospital.

However, investigators said that the patient, who has since passed away, was immobilized and unable to grab anything.

Seen was found guilty of sexually motivated battery. Roane County Circuit Judge Tom Evans will sentence Seen on a later date.

People asked to donate their urine by peeing in street

Men using urinals on public street

Donating your urine for a good cause has never been easier.

A green campaign is encouraging people to relieve themselves on the street in order to make the city a nicer place to live in.

Passersby are encouraged to donate their urine in a set of portable urinals, which was set up at the Beursplein Plaza, which is in the center of Amsterdam.

This is all part of a campaign called “green urine,” which aims to make the city number one of urban green areas.

Phosphates will be extracted from the urine, and used to fertilize the plants in a network of roof gardens.

Human urine is full of nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus, which are all nutrients that plants use to thrive. These are also the main ingredients of modern fertilizers.

Phosphorus is usually extracted from phosphate rocks to make crop fertilizers, but experts believe that the natural supply will run out in the next 100 years.

The green urine is part of the International Water Week, an event that focuses on environmentally sustainable solutions for water supply and sanitation.

Would you pee on a busy public street in front of many passersby for the greater good?

Woman tricks boyfriend into getting out of car so she can run him over

Crystal Greer Brooks
By: Moses Gold

(Scroll down for video) A woman was arrested after she intentionally ran over her boyfriend with his own vehicle.

Crystal Greer Brooks, 33, of Kingsport, Tennessee, repeatedly struck her boyfriend with his pickup truck because he wasn't in the mood for McDonald’s food.

Brooks became angry when her boyfriend, who is also the father of her child, refused to stop at McDonald’s.

Brooks asked her boyfriend to pull to the side of the road so that she could drive.

The victim complied with her demand, and while he was in the process of walking around the front of the vehicle, Brooks slipped into the driver's seat and pressed the gas.

She struck her boyfriend, sending him flying onto the hood of the vehicle and then onto the pavement.

Investigators said that Brooks wasn't content with striking her boyfriend once, but proceeded to strike him two more times with the vehicle.

The police officer, who arrived at the scene, examined the victim, whose “torn clothing and road rash injuries were consistent with being dragged on the pavement," according to the arrest affidavit.

When the officer questioned Brooks about the altercation, she denied striking her boyfriend and stated that he willingly jumped onto the hood of his own truck.

After gathering information and witness statements, Brooks was determined to be the primary aggressor in the altercation and was taken into custody at the scene.

She was booked into the Sullivan County Jail and charged with aggravated assault.

New York Prison guard who was impregnated by inmate loses custody of her baby

Nancy Gonzalez and Ronell Wilson
By: Eva Fett

(Scroll down for video) A prison guard was fired from her job after she was found guilty of sleeping with an inmate.

Nancy Gonzalez, 29, of New York, became pregnant after sleeping with inmate Ronell Wilson, who is on death row for killing two New York police officers.

Gonzalez lost custody of her baby after she hung out with the inmate’s family members.

A judge took away Gonzalez’s parental rights to her son named Justus.

The ruling came after Gonzalez drank alcohol with Wilson’s family members twice when she went to see them, according to court documents.

Earlier, Wilson’s relatives had asked Gonzalez to testify in court about the baby in an attempt to help Wilson avoid the death penalty sentence.

Gonzalez refused to testify and Wilson was sentenced to death for murdering undercover NYPD Detectives Rodney Andrews and James Nemorin during a gun bust.

The Wilson family did however convince Gonzalez to let them be in the child’s life.

During two of their meetings, the Wilson family, who “subtly blame her for the death sentence reached by the jury,” plied Gonzalez with alcohol, according to court records.

As a recovering substance abuser, Gonzalez was forbidden to drink alcohol as a condition of her bail.

She violated that condition, and the court said that the drinking “endangered the safety of her baby,” therefore, she lost custody of her child.

It is unclear how prosecutors learned of her bail violation.

(Scroll down for video) A healthy man died after drinking Red Bull, and now, the family is demanding an astonishing $85 million, according to a new lawsuit filed in New York.

The lawsuit states that the Red Bull did not give him wings, only a heart attack.

Cory Terry, 33, of Brooklyn, died during a basketball game after drinking a Red Bull, and his family is blaming largest manufacturer of energy drinks in the world for his death.

The lawsuit was filed on Monday, and it is believed to be the first wrongful death lawsuit against Red Bull.

The popular drink contains additional stimulants that make it different from a cup of coffee, attorney Ilya Novofastovsky said.

A spokesperson of the company said that it has sold about 35 billion cans in 165 countries over the past 25 years because health authorities around the world have determined that the Red Bull Energy Drink is safe for consumption.

On the night of November 8, 2011, Terry was playing basketball in a gym at Stephen Decatur Middle School.

After about 45 minutes, he drank a can of Red Bull, became dizzy and collapsed, according to the court documents.

The family also filed a lawsuit against the city, claiming that there was no defibrillator or other rescue equipment in the school gym, and it took 40 minutes for an ambulance to arrive. That case is pending.

An 80-year-old auto body shop owner, of Cape Town, South Africa, was shot dead with his own gun, and a delivery truck driver was shot in the hand in front of the shop, on Monday.

The deceased, who is the owner of the Manzil Motor Spares and Repairs, has been identified as Mr. Hassan.

Sasha Gadu, who lives near the auto body shop, said he heard several shots before 1:00 p.m., and he went out to investigate.

"I heard six shots. Upon arrival, I learned that a delivery truck driver and the shop owner have been shot. I spoke to the truck driver, who told me that two men were fighting with him when Mr. Hassan heard the commotion and came outside,” Gadu said.

"Mr. Hassan took out his gun, but he hesitated, which gave the criminal a chance to grab the gun. He turned it on Hassan and shot him in the head," Gadu added.

Thousands seen at record breaking nude swimming event in Florida

Haulover Beach
By: John Roberts

Thousands of people came out to witness the record-breaking nude swimming event in Florida, according to photos uploaded to the Internet.

Hundreds of nudists gathered at Haulover Beach on Sunday, hoping to set the Guinness World Record for the most skinny dippers in the same place.

The event saw 805 people enter the water, but thousands of people attended the beach as spectators, Richard Mason, president of the South Florida Free Beaches Association, which organized the event, said.

"It was a successful event," Mason said. "If Guinness accepts our application it will be a new world record," he said.

The current Guinness World Record of most skinny dippers in the same place is held by the El Playazo Beach in Vera Playa, Almeria, Spain. A total of 729 nudists gathered there this summer.

Mason said the weather on Sunday was "choppy and windy,” causing many swimmers to stay home.

Despite the bad weather, Mason said that they were able to create awnings on the beach and follow the high standards set by Guinness.

To organize the swimmers, participants received bracelets and the organizers did everything possible to keep people in the same area, a requirement set by Guinness World Record.

The event raised funds for the Paralyzed Veterans Association of Florida. According to Mason, they will donate about $1,100 to the organization.

Confusion between ‘f*** off’ and ‘f*** you’ gets man arrested

Dubai court
By: Sarah Weiss

A man was arrested and charged with using foul language after allegedly telling a telecom employee to “f*** off,” according to court proceedings in the United Arab Emirates.

A defense attorney told a Dubai court that his client used a figurative expression when he told an Etisalat employee to “f*** off.” The attorney argued that telling someone to “f*** off” is not an insult, and that this case was just another example of how cultural differences can lead to a big misunderstanding.

"My client is a Canadian citizen and ‘f*** off’ is not an insult in Canada. When people want to hurl an insult they say ‘f*** you.’ ‘F*** off’ is commonly used when a person asks another person to leave," Uday Al Kazwini of Dar Al Balagh argued before the Dubai Misdemeanours Court.

Prosecutors accused the 43-year-old, of insulting the 29-year-old complainant, and are calling for a harsh penalty.

Thousands of students seen kissing in mass kissing event in California

Mass kissing event illustration
By: Shifra Unger

Despite warnings from health officials, thousands of students participated in a mass kissing event, according to photos uploaded to the Internet.

The Stanford University students call the mass kissing event the Full Moon on the Quad celebration.

As part of the event, the students split into two groups, gay and straight, and at 1:00 a.m., they lock lips with as many people as possible, with each partner being asked for permission before each kiss.

"The event used to be about giving a girl a kiss on the cheek and give them a rose, but now, it became something more modern," freshman Gabbi Fisher, 18, said.

Administrators said that they provide free mouthwash for the event and inform students of the health risks involved with open-mouth kissing.

"The university offers students a wealth of information related to alcohol and safe sex," university spokesperson Lisa Lapin said.

Lapin said that the tradition, usually held on the first full moon of the year, was delayed this year due to a conflict.

The tradition began in the 1900s, but faded before being brought back in the 1980s.

"Since then, it has grown in popularity," Lapin said.

Eel creeps into man’s penis during beauty treatment

The eel
By: David Ross

A man was hospitalized after an eel crept into his penis and caused excruciating pain, according to hospital officials in China.

Zhang Nan, 56, of Hubei province in China, underwent the eel beauty treatment and ended up needing surgery.

"I got into the bath and I could feel the eels nibbling on my body,” Nan said.

"Suddenly, I felt severe pain and realized that a small eel had gone into my penis,” Nan added.

According to a health institute spokesperson it was vital that any new beauty treatment undergoes adequate control by health professionals.

“The CIEH is concerned about this or any other new beauty treatment that is offered without proper risk assessments. We need to consider their impact on the public or the animals involved. Without risk assessments it is not possible to provide an official guide or tips that can help inform the public and health professionals," the CIEH said in a statement.

The beauty industry is beginning to turn away from fish pedicures after customers expressed concern about the ethical treatment of animals.

"The kid was pricked," Parrott said.

According to the alert, police believe that the sewing needle is an isolated incident, possibly due to a manufacturing problem, and both Parrott and Jones said the sheriff's office plans to inform the Hershey Company.
