A female member of the New York Police Department, was briefly detained by armed robbers, according to police reports.
Brooklyn Police said that three armed men held up a police officer on Thursday morning, according to a report in the New York Daily News.
The victim, 36, who was off duty at the time, said that she activated her car located on East 99th Street near Foster Avenue, at 5:15 a.m., when two armed men forced her into the back seat.
After several minutes, the officer managed to slip out of the car and run away, leaving her purse containing her shield and ID behind.
As she ran down the street, a third armed man approached her, but she managed to avoid him as well.
Hearing her screams, the husband of the woman called police.
That's when the suspects took her purse, left the victim’s car and fled in a yellow taxi that was reported stolen on Wednesday night, police said.
The police recovered the stolen taxi in East New York.
The police launched an investigation, and so far, no arrests have been made.
