|Found in the trash|
Several employees of the Nordia poultry plant were charged with animal cruelty after throwing away live chicken in garbage bags, according to police reports in Israel.
According to an indictment filed with the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court, workers along with the production manager, threw away live chicks that were rejected by machines along with hundreds of hatching eggs containing embryos.
After throwing them away in the trash, the eggs hatched and the chicks suffocated to death.
The indictment was filed by the Ministry of Agriculture, after receiving the results of an investigation by the Israeli police. Activists of the "Let the Animals Live" organization originally filed the police complaint.
