|Scene of the destroyed synagogue|
(Scroll down for video) Several months ago, Al-Qaeda run Syrian rebels destroyed the Eliyahu Hanavi synagogue, which is one of oldest synagogues in the world.
Now, the terror group is offering to give back the Torah scrolls that were taken from the synagogue in exchange for a prisoner release, according to a report by the Times of Israel.
The group said that they are also in possession of other Judaica objects taken from the ancient synagogue in Damascus. They are demanding that the Assad regime release prisoners who were captured, in exchange for the of objects.
In March, the 2000-year-old synagogue was destroyed and looted. However, those behind the attack were never identified. Government forces and Syrian rebels blamed each other.
The Al-Qaeda group now admitted that it was involved in the looting of at least three or four Torah scrolls and ancient Jewish religious objects.
