(Scroll down for video) A man was banned from driving after he was seen on video steering a car with his feet, according to court proceedings in the United Kingdom.
North Yorkshire Police said that a security camera captured Richard Newton driving with no hands on the steering wheel on the A171.
In the video, Newton is seen traveling at 60 miles per hour for about 25 seconds while cars passed by him on the opposite lane.
The 36-year-old of Abbots Road, Whitby, was found guilty of reckless driving in the incident.
The Scarborough Magistrate’s Court also ordered him to perform 100 hours of community service and pay a total of 685 pounds in fines.
“This case demonstrates two things, one is the sheer stupidity of some people who put others in danger, and the other is the ability of our camera security to capture a range of offenses. This is another case of showing that these cameras are about safety and not just speed,” a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said.
“We will take action against all crimes to ensure that we keep our roads as safe as possible for everyone,” the spokesperson added.
