(Scroll down for video) A woman was horrified to find a bird skull inside her spinach bag.
The Florida woman said that she will never be able to eat leafy vegetables again.
It all began when Madeline Brogan of Sarasota, was preparing food for a party and discovered something unusual in the bag of the Publix brand spinach.
“When I was taking out the spinach, I found something hard. I did not want to throw it in the garbage disposal,” Brogan said.
She spilled it into her sink, and she realized that it was the skull of a small bird.
“I would expect a natural part of something that grows in the ground, even a stone or a stick, but not a bird,” she said.
Brogan shared her story with the Publix where she purchased the product, which is located at the intersection of Fruitville Road and Honore Avenue.
They offered her a full refund of $1.79. The bag of spinach was manufactured in the United States, but it is unclear in what state.
“We have not received any additional complaints, and we believe that this is an isolated incident,” A Publix spokesperson said.
“I’ll probably need therapy because that little thing is going to haunt me,” she said.
Brogan received a gift card, a gift basket, and a selection of Publix frozen fruits and vegetables.
