(Scroll down for video) A woman was horrified to find another woman lying inside her mother’s casket moments before the funeral.
The woman is demanding answers after discovering the wrong body in the coffin that should have contained her mother, who died unexpectedly while on vacation in St. Maarten.
Lisa Kondvar, of Warwick, Rhode Island, and her family discovered the body of another woman in the coffin at a funeral home in New Jersey. The body of her mother, Margaret Porkka, had been prepared for funeral in St. Maarten.
“I looked, and I was like, ‘my God, are you kidding me?’ I was shocked,” Kondvar said.
The family began their investigation.
Relatives believe that a hospital confused the body with that of a Canadian woman, who also died in St. Maarten at the same time. The family also believes that Porkka’s body was cremated in Ottawa.

The two dead women had no relationship with each other.
The Prime Minister of St. Maarten, Sarah Wescot-Williams said on Friday, that the government has formed a committee to investigate the case at the request of U.S. officials.
She said that both women were in their 80s and died on the same day of natural causes. Their bodies were taken to the U.S. on the same airline. She also said that one body was flown to Canada, to be cremated.
