(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested, charged and convicted of animal cruelty after he was seen on video bouncing around his cat like a yo-yo, according to video uploaded to the Internet.
Now, the British man of Southampton, has been banned from keeping animals for ten years.
Matthew Coffin pleaded guilty to two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to his cat after his friends recorded him abusing the animal.
Initially, Coffin claimed that he was preparing his cat for a visit by his mischievous nephew, who is known to pull the tails of cats.
However, he later told a magistrate’s court that he was also showing off.
The 27-year-old was fined £150 ($230) and ordered to pay costs of £257.50 ($400).
“He is very lucky that the cat was not more seriously injured. Daisy was less than a year old at the time and does not weigh much. If he had done that when it was older and heavier, it could have caused serious damage to its spine,” RSCPA inspector Penny Baker said.
