(Scroll down for video) A California Chabad Lubavitch rabbi began a career in mixed martial arts fighting, also known as MMA.
Yossi Eilfort began fighting six months ago and began training at Team Quest Gym in Encinitas.
“Who would have thought that a rabbi could fight? He never gives up,” his coach said.
Eilfort is an expert in Krav Maga, which is a self-defense system developed in Israel for military applications, but wanted more experience with mixed martial arts fighting.
Eilfort trained almost every day, but he remained committed to the La Costa Chabad.
Members of his family and congregation come to watch him fight.
Eilfort said that at first, he felt very uncomfortable to hit someone.
Eilfort recently decided to turn his fighting into a career.
