A man was arrested and charged with misusing the police emergency telephone system after he allegedly called 999 (equivalent to U.S. 911) many times to talk about his sex life, according to police reports in the United Kingdom.

West Midlands Police said that a phone pest suspect has been arrested for wasting police time after call handlers were hit by a barrage of drunken rants in the early hours of the morning.

The Force Contact Centre took 197 emergency calls between midnight and 4:00 a.m. – 29 of which were from the same man, who clogged up emergency lines with rambling stories, insults and sexual innuendo.

His first call came just before midnight discussing his sex life.

Officers warned the caller about his behavior – reminding him that the 999 service is for emergencies only – but after further abusive rants, police lost patience and arrested a 59-year-old man after tracing the calls to an address in Edgbaston.

The man is sobered up in police custody, and will be questioned about wasting police time and making malicious communications.

The bogus caller dialed 999 29 times between 11:50 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. before officers arrested the man just after 4:30 a.m.
