Man dead another injured after assailants open fire on their car while traveling in Flatbush

A man is dead and another was hospitalized with serious injuries after assailants opened fire at their car while traveling in Flatbush, according to police reports in New York.

The shooting occurred early on Saturday, police said.

When rescue workers arrived they found one of the victims, 23-year-old Gerard Grant, of Carnarsie, dead, with a gunshot wound to the head.

The other victim, a 24-year-old, was taken to Kings County Hospital and is in critical condition.

The injured victim is refusing to cooperate with investigators.

The two men were shot at the corner of Avenue I and East 16th Street, around 4 a.m., police said.

The circumstances of the shooting remain unclear.
