A rabbi is shocked after a silver crown was stolen from the holy ark at a synagogue in Crown Heights, according to a report by crownheights.info.

The theft at the Brooklyn, New York synagogue, occurred on Friday night. The thief stole the silver crown belonging to a Torah scroll, tools, a guitar and other valuable items.

The synagogue, Chevra Ahavas Yisrael, is located on Albany Avenue and Lincoln Place.

“When I arrived in the morning, the holy ark was open and things were thrown around,” Rabbi Chezzi Denebeim, the synagogue’s rabbi, said.

“The basement of the building was also raided. That is where the thief found construction tools and other valuable items,” Denebeim said.

According to the initial investigation, the thief gained access to the synagogue by breaking a window, and the suspect left through the front door.

The thief made off with thousands of dollars worth of items.

Police were called and an investigation was launched, but so far, no arrests have been made.
