A man was arrested and charged with theft after he broke into a Chabad house, police in Georgia said.
Athens-Clarke County Police arrested Payne Andrew White on Wednesday, after being accused of breaking into the Rohr Chabad House on South Milledge Avenue.
White, 56, entered the Jewish center through an open door and took a laptop computer.
The wife of the center’s rabbi, Chana Refson, was doing some work in her office when Payne walked in, her husband Rabbi Michael Refson said.
The rabbi chased Payne, who dropped the laptop and got into a vehicle.
Refson wrote down the license plate number and police were able to locate Payne a short while later.
Payne was arrested and booked into jail.
