Five children were found wandering alone a train station, according to police in India.
Police said a woman disappeared after telling her oldest daughter that from now on their father will take care of them.
However, the children’s father was nowhere in sight.
The oldest girl is only 5-years-old. She was left to care for her siblings including a baby, who is only 2-months-old.
According to police, some of the locals in the Mukund Nagar area found the children, who were searching for their mother.
The locals took the children to police, who then placed them with the Bharatiya Samaj Seva Kendra, a social service institute in the Cidco area.
None of the children were able to give police details that would lead them to find their mother.
Police are asking people for help in locating the mother.
“It is likely that the woman had abandoned her children due to economic or family problems,” a police spokesperson said.
“Medical tests have been performed on the children. All were found to be safe and in good health with minor bruises. Procedure to locate their parents are being carried out at present time,” Rajashri Deokar, director of Bharatiya Samaj Seva Kendra, said.
