(Scroll down for video) A woman was arrested after she carried out a vicious attack in order to ruin her friend’s life.
Mary Konye, 21, of Canning Town, East London, United Kingdom, is accused of dressing in a Muslim niqab as a disguise in order to throw acid in the face of her long time friend.
The victim, Naomi Oni, 21, worked as an associate at Victoria’s Secret before the attack.
Prosecutor Gareth Patterson said that Oni left her job at the Westfield shopping centre in Stratford, East London, at about 11:30 p.m.
“A woman in a niqab with only her eyes visible, followed the victim home, walking a few steps behind her,” Patterson said.
When they were close to the victim’s home, Konye threw acid at the victim.
Oni had burns to her face, chest and other parts of her body. Her eyesight was also affected by the attack.
The victim spent a month in the hospital after the attack.
The Snaresbrook Crown Court heard that Konye and Oni had been friends from middle school, and had their share of ups and downs throughout their friendships.
Things took a turn for the worse when the victim called Konye “ugly.”
That’s when the defendant allegedly wanted to show her friend “ugly” and burned her face.
