(Scroll down for video) A woman who was desperate to get away from police, jumped over a bridge and into a river.

Police in Troutdale, Oregon, tried to pull over a woman, who drove a car that was reported stolen.

However, rather than stopping at to the side of the road, the woman took off and led police on a high-speed chase.

After driving several miles, the woman behind the wheel suddenly stopped at the Stark Street Bridge and jumped into the freezing river.

It all began around 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday, with a simple traffic stop. When the officer ran the license plate, the car came back as stolen.

Police dash-cam video showed Rebecca Humphries, 26, speeding away.

In attempt to get away from the situation, Humphries was seen on video jumping out of her car and running towards the bridge.

The officer is heard screaming to her not to jump, but she took the plunge anyway.

Humphries jumped off the bridge and into the water below, seriously injuring herself.

She was taken to a hospital and treated for broken bones on her back.

Humphries was cited for numerous traffic offenses, which she committed while trying to get away from police.

A male passenger was apprehended at the scene.
