(Scroll down for video) A taxi driver who did not want to deal with the police, abandoned his passengers as he fled on foot.
It all began when police set up a roadblock to catch people who violate driving laws.
However, taxi driver Regis Munenzwa, did not want to stop because he did not have a driver’s license.
Munenzwa refused to stop at the Southerton Police Station in Harare, Zimbabwe, when he was instructed to do so.
He almost ran over a police officer when he made his way passed the traffic barrier.
As officers tried to stop him, Munenzwa accelerated and got away from police.
His actions made him look very guilty, and officers were determined to get him.
Traffic police were assisted by passersby in pursuit of the taxi driver.
The driver jumped from the moving vehicle and left his van full of passengers in danger.
Luckily, someone was able to stop the van and no one was hurt.
Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident, and said that the driver was trying to escape because he did not have a driver’s license. Also, the vehicle did not have an inspection to prove that it was fit for the road.
The driver was eventually arrested.
He now faces charges of endangering people’s lives, fleeing police, driving without a license and other charges.
