(Scroll down for video) A man is lucky to be alive after his heroic granddaughter jumped into a river to save him.

Coy Jumper, 72, of Swansea, South Carolina, took 3 of his granddaughter’s fishing, when he suddenly had a stroke and fell into the lake.

His 10-year-old granddaughter, Cara Jumper, jumped into the lake to save her grandfather from drowning.

She pulled him ashore, but his cell phone had sunk to the bottom of the water so she was unable to call for help.

Jumper, then helped her grandfather get to his vehicle, which was about a quarter mile away.

The brave girl then drove the car three miles to their home.

From there, Coy was taken to a hospital where he spent six days recovering from the incident.

His wife Esca Jumper said that the whole family is grateful for Cara’s heroic actions.
