A great-grandmother was sentenced to jail after robbing stores out of boredom.

June Humphreys, 76, is a lonely woman.

Although she has seven children, only one lives close to her.

Humphreys of Crewe, United Kingdom, needed to do something to keep herself busy.

Rather than doing volunteer work or some other job, she went on a shoplifting spree.

Police have been having trouble with Humphreys’ shoplifting for the past four years.

Humphreys used her free bus pass to travel to the city to steal goods.

She hid the items in her shopping cart and then left the shops without paying.

Ironically, she sometimes steals items that she can’t even use, such as a breast pump and baby clothes.

Humphreys, who has osteoarthritis and breast cancer, admitted to the thefts.

She has been convicted of theft at least 4 times in the past.

Officer Darren Vernon told the North Staffordshire Magistrate’s Court that the woman uses public transportation to get to the crime scene and to get away.

“She knows it’s wrong, and she said that she steals because she is bored,” he added.

Humphreys was given one month in prison suspended for a year. She was warned that she will go to jail if she offends again.
