(Scroll down for video) An elderly woman is dead after a fire swept through her apartment, rescue workers in New York said.
Brooklyn firefighters said that they have discovered the cause of a fire that claimed the life of an elderly woman and injured a man in the Brighton Beach neighborhood early on Saturday.
Firefighters found that several large appliances were plugged into a single extension cord, and they believe that this is what caused the flames that erupted on the seventh floor apartment.
Police identified the victim as Feyga Geyman, 82. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her husband, 85, was taken to Staten Island University North Hospital with burns to his hands.
