A police dog is out of a job because it was too lazy, police in Mississippi said.
The Gulfport Police Department said that it is sending the police dog, a Belgian Malinois, back from where it came.
The police dog named Fred, was given the opportunity to turn things around, but it didn’t.
The city paid about $12,500 – including training – to buy Fred.
The dog was to be able to sniff out drugs, but officers said that it was easily distracted and lazy.
The police department has tried to retrain it, but without success.
Last week, the police department finally threw in the towel and sold the dog.
