(Scroll down for video) A police officer was arrested and charged with sexual assault after he allegedly sexually assaulted women during pat downs, police in California said.

San Diego Police said that officer Christopher Hays was arrested on Sunday afternoon, after being accused of false imprisonment and misdemeanor sexual assault on four women.

The District Attorney’s Office is also investigating claims by two additional women.

Most of the cases involve claims that Hays inappropriately touched women, all under 40-years-old, during searches of their bodies.

Hays, 30, was booked on two counts of false imprisonment and three counts of misdemeanor sexual assault. He was later released on $130,000 bond.

If convicted on these charges, he could face up to 7 years in prison.
