(Scroll down for video) A man in a banana costume was arrested and charged with soliciting after being seen dressed in a banana costume to attract customers to a new store, police in Texas said.

Beaumont Police said that they were called to Eastex Freeway near Highway 105 on Saturday morning, after receiving reports about a man dressed as a banana holding an AK-47.

Derek Poe, owner of Golden Triangle Tactical, said that the stunt was part of a grand opening celebration.

Poe said the man in the banana suit was holding an AK-47 on his back with the barrel pointing down and a sign with an arrow pointing to the store. He said that this idea was to attract customers to the store.

Police arrested the 18-year-old, and found that the gun had fifty rounds. The teen was charged with violating a city ordinance that prohibits soliciting on roads.

The teen might also face weapons charges, police said.
