A kidnapped woman was able to escape after her attacker became too drunk to keep her locked up, Israel Police said.
Rishon Lezion Police said that they arrested a 43-year-old local man on Tuesday, after being accused of breaking into his former girlfriend’s home and assaulting her while she slept. The man is also accused of kidnapping and making death threats.
According to the initial investigation, the man was able to gain access to the apartment after the woman’s roommate left the house for work and forgot to lock the door.
The man entered the apartment, went into his former girlfriend’s bedroom, beat her and slammed her into the floor.
Later, the man took the woman to his apartment, locked the door and placed the key in his pocket. The suspect took a bottle of vodka and drank it. Around 8:00 p.m., the suspect fell asleep. That is when the woman took the key out of his pocket and fled from the scene.
Police arrived at the apartment and arrested the suspect, who was drunk and covered in blood.
The suspect will be brought before the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court for a bail hearing. Charges are still pending.
