A pair of thieves targeted a high end jewelry store at the Kings Plaza shopping mall, police in New York said.
Brooklyn Police said that the two fled from the scene with a large amount of jewelry.
The incident began when a man approached Michael Matthew’s Jewelers, which is located on the second floor of the mall, at 10:25 a.m.
He took a hammer and smashed the jewelry showcase open in front of the horrified owner and began grabbing stuff.
As the thief was leaving the scene, several people began running after him, but they backed off when the suspect began waving a gun.
The suspect went into a waiting white van and the two drove off.
The store owner, Mark Levy, suffered minor injuries to his hand from the broken glass. No one else was injured.
Police began an investigation, but so far, no arrests have been made.
