Police are looking to arrest and charge a group of youngsters after they allegedly burned two robbers alive, police in Nigeria said.

Benue State Police said that young local residents, who were angry about thefts plaguing the farming community of Wuase, burned two thieves to death.

The youngsters claimed that the thieves have been terrorizing the community over the past several months.

According to the initial police investigation, the suspects broke into the Wuese Market on Wednesday, and stole cash and valuables from local traders.

However, the robbers were captured by several youngsters, who chased them when they were trying to make their escape.

The youngsters ignored the pleas from the men, and poured gasoline on the two thieves. They set the men on fire.

Police launched an investigation into the incident, but so far, no arrests have been made.
