(Scroll down for video) The Israeli government has announced that a laser shield system built to protect commercial aircraft from terrorists is complete.
The Automatic Skyshield System, also known as C-Music, detects anti-aircraft missiles and destroys them.
Israel has successfully completed testing of the new missile defense system for commercial aircraft and plans to start building the system into its commercial planes, the Ministry of Defense said on Wednesday. The system detects aircraft missiles, which are fired from a terrorist’s shoulder.
The system can also hack into the missile and divert it from its path, rendering it harmless. “The tests were carried out in a special field in southern Israel, and were the most complex and sophisticated testing ever in the state of Israel,” the ministry said in a statement.
