An Austrian woman was arrested and jailed after she was raped.

The 29-year-old, who was identified as Mary, was visiting Dubai, United Arab Emirates, when she was raped after enjoying a party at a hotel.

According to the woman, she accepted a ride home from one of the men at the party.

The man, who turned out to be the son of the local police chief, raped Mary in the hotel garage where she was staying.

Mary reported the rape to the authorities, but instead of finding sympathy, she was arrested.

She was charged with consumption of alcohol and for having extramarital sex.

When she complained that she had been raped, authorities said the rape was still considered as extramarital sex.

Mary was advised that she could have the charges against her dropped if she agreed to marry the man who raped her.

When she refused to comply with the demand, she was sent to jail.

“Nobody kept me informed about my situation,” Mary said. “I was treated worse than a dog,” she said.

Mary was held in jail for three days. Her passport was confiscated by police.

As soon as the news of her imprisonment reached Austria, the government acted quickly.

Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz organized a crisis team that flew to Dubai to negotiate Mary’s release.

The negotiation was successful, and Mary has since returned to Austria.

“I am proud to be Austrian,” she said. “I am very grateful to Kurz and the team,” she added.
