(Scroll down for video) A man was shocked when police arrested his mother on charges of being a fugitive.
Judy Lynn Hayman, 60, has been on the run for 37 years after escaping from a prison in Michigan.
Hayman was serving a prison sentence for larceny when she broke out of the Huron Valley prison and escaped in 1977.
She settled in San Diego, California, where she changed her identity and started a new life. Three years later she had a son.
However, investigators never gave up their search for the fugitive.
Their hard work paid off when they located Hayman in San Diego.
The investigators sent a photo of the woman to the local police, who went to the apartment and arrested her.
When police finally caught up with her on Tuesday, the woman claimed to be Jamie Lewis, and had the documents to prove it.
However, police said that her eyes gave her away. Her distinct eyes were exactly the same as the fugitive’s eyes.
Her son, who was visiting at the time of the arrest, was very surprised by the allegations against his mother, as she has managed to keep her criminal past a secret from her 32-year-old son, police said.
